The Success Journey
By Bill Cottringer
You know, it doesn’t matter
If you’re a writer, teacher,
Musician or pancake batter;
Success is an unending journey—
From falling down to getting up,
First crawling and then walking;
Soon running and often flying.
A constant roller-coaster ride,
This journey takes us on—
Back and forth and side to side,
From annoying negative thoughts
Of worry, fear and insecurity,
To uplifting hope, love and joy;
Usually getting lost in between,
Feeling bad but learning why;
Once again seeing the impossible,
Managing to do the improbable;
Imagining wildly with thoughts
Somehow coming out as things;
An inevitable conclusion:
There really is no ceiling,
Even with our impatience,
And screwy idea of time;
All these judgments do—
Is keep prosperity from view,
Except by the lucky few.
