My house is getting quite full these days. In addition to the regulars (neighborhood kids) my oldest (Monkey) has added several new people to her life. A few months ago she was a tomboy but now she has been bitten by the celebrity bug. I am sure most of us women went through it back in the "old days". Suddenly posters of boy bands or teen idols plastered our walls.
Some of us were more into it than others. Kissing each papery face before bed. Ahem, you know who you are. I wasn't as into it as some but I did hang my share of (I can't believe I am admitting this) New Kids On the Block posters, thoughtfully furnished by other salivating fans (aka my friends).
We recently witnessed two friends about to duke it out over Chris Brown pics in a magazine. The teen who used to live in this house had every square inch of her walls papered with magazine posters.
Monkey is now able to recite the stars' stage names and real names. Tell who likes what for breakfast and their whole filmography. Of course being the daughter of a supreme geek (And that would be my husband, who did you think I was talking about!?), she has a crush on David Tennet, the star of the BBC Dr. Who sci fi series.
For a few months all she ate, slept, and breathed was Dr. Who this and Dr. Who that. Now she has discovered THE magazines. You know which magazines. Tiger Beat, J-14, Teen Nick, and others...many others.
I better stock up on tape....
