SSI

I wish you luck but do not be disappointed. The way the system works as my lawyer explained to me is that it usually is denied 4 times first then it can go to the fed court level were they are usually approved. This takes about 4 years altogether. The only good thing abou this is that when you finally win and you will is that the money from SSI goes all the way back to the day that you became disabled. We just made a win on my daughters case but it took exactly what I described. I hope your laywer did not take any money up front. We never paid our attorney a dime until the case was won and if we did not win our paperwork said he would never be paid. Find one ofthese lawyers . There is a bunch of them and they only work SSI cases. Do not use a general attorney, you will lose. The only way to win is to use a lawyere that does not get paid unless you win.

I have fouth the fight with SSI but it is not them that you need to worry about but your lawer. I know how much of a racket this is. You need to keep up with every time you are in contact with your lawer. My lawer charged 3/4 of an hour just for a phone call that lasted 2 min. I know that you signed a contract for a % of your back pay and the lawer will tell you that he will get this and ofter the case is setteled he will tell you to bring him this money. The SSI judge sets how much he can get. NOT THE CONTRACT. Lawers will rip you off so quick. Ask the lawer for a detailed bill, he is to give you one but most do not until it is to late to protest. Oh I bet he has it so padded so he can summit it to the Judge. I protested the bill it did not do any good for me but I did not know at the time I could. I fought the fight for my wife. We got her back pay and the lawer told us to bring it to him so he could put it in his account until he got paid. LOL I called SSI they said that they had taken out the amount that was due him and would send it to him that I did not need to take him anything. The amouth was less then the contract had called for because it was set by the judge.

Good for you for appealing -- 90% of applicants get denied on their first application, no matter how deserving.
