Nevada couple blame Internet for neglect !!!!!

I caught this this morning and couldn't believe it!

"RENO, Nev. - A couple who authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect."

I could be doing a number of other things, but as I have just given my child a glass of milk and am watching him ply in his sand box, I am using a little me time on gather.

There is no excuse for an adult to subject thier children to the neglect and abuse. This is not only sad, it is tragic!

I don't get some people either in these types of situations. I just saw a video of this van full of young adults who were all on the drug Ecstasy. Anyhow they gave this little girl who appeared to be about 4 or 5 some of the drug too. I almost puked when I saw it. SICK, SICK, SICK!!! I might even be able to post the video but it'll ruin your day if you see it!

I should be packing - I am going to Dallas tomorrow morning.

But, what these people were doing is sick! I joke that I am addicted to the computer (and I probably am), but, I would never sacrifice my kids and their well being to be on it. They are dressed and fed and properly taken care of BEFORE I start on the computer! And if they need me - I pull myself away. There is no excuse for this. Have they not heard of a pause button?

I saw this headline. The first thing I thought when I saw the original new story was - I wonder if they are on Gather

However, I read the article and found out they were gamers. Oh well.

I agree, i am addicted to Gather, but I would never put others at risk just to be here.

Shelley, isn't that funny??? The headlines scream internet, but what they were actually doing was playing D&D online. There is a distinction in my mind, but I guess not the media!

I must admit that there are times when I can't sleep and I think about getting up on going online, but I usually don't. (My typing is too loud! LOL) He says tht he can't sleep if I am not there, so I just watch TV or stare at the walls!

This makes my last minute peanut butter sandwiches '(cause I worked too late and ran son to golf, daughter to drugstore for "girll stuff") seem ok. I hope these two go to jail. I would really like to see them not be able to procreate again.

I think it is just a little ridiculous to compare computer games to drugs. There is no excuse for what they did to their children. How can someone just sit there and ignore two babies? It's wrong on so many levels. I am not perfect but there is no way I would let a computer game or any other online site come before my children's health.

That is just horrible. Unfortunately there are so many children out there who are being abused. My husband works with some of these kids - he told me this morning before going to work that there is a young boy there who has been really abused and he then abused other children. It is so bad that this young man (I think he is about 15) gets sexually turned on by the smell of a baby's diaper! I wonder sometimes what will become of children like this- the abuse cycle goes for one generation to the next!

OMG that is so sad. The little girl only weighted 10 pounds at 11 months. OMG I hope these people go away for a long time.

People should be sterilized for ignoring their kids. It makes me so mad. I am at work right now but don't have any customers so I'm getting paid to be on here with you guys. Well okay, I could be wiping down the counters at work with lysol but I'm not. I could be reading about the business but I'm not. :D LOL.
