The Dusty Art Room...And Intro

Greetings everyone!  I have been on Gather for several months but I haven't really explored its potential till lately.  My beautiful wife Melanie S. and my sister Sarah Mcsib are experienced users that have forced my male disease of "laziness" that most men are cursed with, to take a closer look and dive in. 

I will start by introducing myself.  My name is Timothy.  I am a father of five and a husband to my best friend.  I have a degree in electronic engineering and currently unemployed.  The reason I am unemployed is cancer.  I am a survivor of almost 3 years now.  But the cancer isn't what put me down the long trail of disability.  It was the side affects from the various surgeries and treatment.  But enough of that, I only include it because it has become a part of life.  It's like breathing.  It's there so you have to acknowledge it.             

Besides my family, (Though five children can tend to drive one insane sometimes) I enjoy a few hobbies like reading and writing.  And the one that probably explains the title of this article oil painting.  It's been a long while since I have been in my art room.  All my paints sit up there with several blank canvases to splatter my imagination against.  It has been over a year since I have touched brush to canvas and I am always curious why I don't just go up there.  Why do I not open that door and step inside and wipe the dust away?  I have no clue.  At least I think I don't.  I have a included one of my favorite paintings.  It is one of my wife likes quite a bit as well.  I think I will end this intro.  I hope to gain some friends from gather and I look forward to talking with you all.

I love your painting. Also my brother is an electrical engineer. So sorry about that pesky cancer!! I just hate that disorder! Probablly even more than my bipolar/anxiety disorder with bad bouts of depression. I also get chronic migraines! I only have 3 kids but two are grown. My daughter is only 8. But I also have 6 grandkids!! I started young and then they started young! :o)

Beautiful painting. I am from a large family too. I know how they can drive you crazy. There were six of us kids and my sister has seven kids of her own. I love large families though and I consider it a blessing to spend time with my family.

This article is really slow. Did you submit it to both the PWOTW and the PWghost group. That usually helps to speed the article up a bit. Your other article is much faster to load.

I am so sorry about your cancer. My mother in law and grandmother in law died of cancer but I know many survivors also. It is the survivors that can spread the word of cancer best. It gives other cancer patients "hope" and helps them from being so depressed. As depression seems to be inevatable with cancer. Good luck to you.

I too am married to my best friend. It is great when your spouse is also your best friend. My husband and I have been married for 29 years this coming Dec. It has been a wonderful 29 years. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to spend eternity together also. That means alot

Great painting, Timothy! You have talent there! I think you should go up and brush away the dust and get back at it! My husband is a painter too. I have several pictures he has painted hanging in various places around our home.

He's gotten away from painting for a long time now. I'm always harrassing him to get back into it, but he's lost interest or something. I'm not sure what happened. I know one thing is the fact that we have a four-year-old and a two-year-old running around who would never NOT stay out of his stuff if you know what I mean.

That sucks about your cancer. I know that is probably a really dumb comment, but it's about all I can come up with. I'm glad you are doing well now though and I hope you continue to do well in the future. You've just got to fight back!! Kick that cancer's butt!

Connie- I was having a problem earlier too (not this article). I would click on post and it would take forever and a day to do it.... not sure if that's what's happening to you... but I figured out if I just wait a few seconds, then hit stop on my browser and refresh, my post would actually be there.

I told my dad that they were going to VBS and he said I should take them to the church that we went to when I was growing up. I told him it was to far and at night and that didn't work for us. Which is true but the church I went to growing up is a little boring, there I'll say it, it was boring and doesn't offer the children's programs that the one my kids are going to for VBS.

So this Sunday I'm going to church where they're going for VBS. A little nervous, it's a big church with a lot of people. I haven't been an active church goer for many years. I haven't had a lot of good church experiences. I've learned that just because someone is in church, that doesn't make them a good person, I especially learned that after I worked in the daycare section at a church for a couple of years.

It has been so hot here lately. Victoria called today and said it was over 100 down there today. Her and her husband were outside working on her land. I hope she does not get a sunburn. That would hurt.

What is the weather like in Michigan? My friend has family who lives in Michigan. They only get to come back to their homeplace about once and sometimes twice a year if they are lucky. It is hard when family live far away. Work and daily life can become hectic and you need the support of your family.
