Welcome one and all to the 3rd Edition of Good Humor Monday in the Writing Essential Group. Once again I haven’t established a theme for the day beyond humor, so as long as it’s funny, send it in.
Before we move on to the funny today, I wanted to take this opportunity to announce that Good Humor Monday is looking for an official mascot. When I was selected as member editor for Mondays here in the Writing Essential group, my first thought was that this day needs a mascot. An obvious choice would be a man of good humor (i.e. a good humor man), but that would lead to numerous copyright infringement lawsuits and would probably result in having to change the name from Good Humor Monday to something like the Super Happy Funtime Comedy Day of Humor, which isn’t as catchy and won’t look nice on a t-shirt or mousepad. I don’t want to get sued, so your assistance in creating a mascot would be much appreciated.
There are a few key elements of a good mascot. First, the mascot needs a good mascot name. Alliterations (Phillie Phanatic) and puns (Albert E. Gator)are common devices used in mascot names but they aren’t necessary. Next, the mascot needs a well developed character history: birthdate, basic profile information(height, weight, education, etc) and a brief biography. Lastly, the mascot needs to not be an already licensed character. Photos or artistic renditions of your mascot aren't necessary unless you'd really like to add one.
I’m not acting in any official Gather capacity so I can’t promise prizes or even pledge to remain impartial throughout this process (cough cough bribes cough cough). Obviously I don’t expect everyone to come up with a mascot today, so let’s establish a timetable for entrants. How about two weeks? Sometime between now and August 6th, write an article about your mascot idea and use the tag "Good Humor Monday Mascot" so I can find it (email a link to me just to be certain). On August 6th I'll present the entire list to the group and let the group decide who our mascot will be through some voting process.
This can either be a lot of fun, really stupid, or some combination of fun and stupidity. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message or leave your two cents in the comments.

I mean seriously .... Bud Light? What were you thinking there?
Drunk Monkey, I see your point. A casual drinker may scoff at BL, but a drunk monkey does need to keep the lubrication flowing.
I can't even say "hinny-can" let alone spell it
