Teenage Testosterone Twins #2: First Leg of the...

(Otherwise known as the Epic Adventures of B. & C.-Dawg)

The Boyz arrived safely in Santa Barbara, only 9 hours late, meaning 3:00 a.m. Saturday. The train started out an hour late from Seattle Thursday, got delayed by track repairs near Kelso, WA for two hours, waited an hour near Portland, OR for a freight train to pass, then had to double back to let TWELVE freight trains go around their passenger train. (I hate to think of their young lady friend waiting for them at that time of night at the train station.....)

The boys are staying with their friend (who grew up in our neighborhood) and her Grandma. Weekend plans included a visit to a Tony-Hawk designed skate park and a visit with another friend from our town who is living there for the summer with her dad. Hey, let's ALL move to S.B.! Saturday night's dinner was to be barbecued steak, pineapple and corn. They report that our friend is very California with sunglasses and drives aggressively (difficult for me to picture her this way).

The plan was to leave for St. Louis on Monday, but no reservations are available till Wednesday. They aren't complaining too much. I'm so sorry, Grandma D.!

Yes, they have cell phones, and no, they haven't called us yet, WE have taken the initiative, but eventually, when the money runs low.....

That's the problem with Amtrack. It is always behind schedule. I wish we had a train system like in Europe where there are lots of trains and they pretty much are on time.

i wish i could send my boys to california even for a day ..but i am sure there will come a time when i will miss them a lot, soon in fact..when they go away with their dad ..
i am sure they will have a great time out there!

Sara, I'm not sure what you mean, but the boys have grown up with the girl, our families are close. And she is older than they are.

And they've had plenty of drama already.....! :-))

This is day #2 for them on the train from L.A. to St. Louis, I'm dying to hear from them, you always meet interesting people on the train, and they are seeing new country.....but I'm only the mom (sigh).........
