We played a game called ditch em. We had fields and cornfields and a barn to play it in. One person was "it" and every person after that who was tagged stayed tagged until everyone was trying to tag that one last person.
we play baseball, stickball, softball and handball all day long during the summers; during the fall and winter time, we played stratego baseball games. I also was taught a game by my grandmother called "Cheat", it was a card game of which I cannot remember how it was played; all I remember the point of the game was to cheat your brains out to win!!!
marbles was my favorite, I finally had to give all the marbles back that I won because I had all the marbles in the neighborhood and no one had any marbles to play with. Also walking on stilts that granpa made for us. We also made our own cars out of boxes and any kind of wheels and raced down hills. I also loved soccer and basket ball. As you see TV was not around yet, nor computers, so we were out doors all day long.
We used to play "I'm thinking of something in the room. Can you guess what it is." The others would ask for a clue. A clue would be given and the guessing would begin. It was a fun pastime.
Skullys...a sidewalk came drawn with chalk and played with bottle tops.

I remember playing "Chinese Stars". Well, actually I didn't so much play but my brothers did and attempted to hit me with them at every chance. I believe they had a point system depending upon where they hit me. Luckily, they were made of paper but they still hurt like hell. I still give them trouble about it!
My grandkids are Media Junkies. My kids loved to play Slug Bug while we we on road trips. I played Jacks, Pick-up Sticks, Jump Rope, Kick Ball, and (my fave!) Hop Scotch.
My cousins and I played cowboys and Indians. My cousin Linda and I had to be the Indians because we didn't have horses. My older cousin Randy got to be the cowboy because he had a pony. Randy carved me a gun and knife out of wood, sanded them down, and painted them so I would have weapons to use when we played. I think he made some weapons for his sister Linda too. I was always jealous that Randy owned the pony. Grandpa gave him one but not Linda or me. I thought it wasn't fair.
I remember playing (I'm not sure of the name) drop the clothes pin. What you did is get about 6 or so clothes pins (you know, the wooden pins used to hang clothes outside on a clothes line – pre dryer) and a glass milk bottle (I think you can still get milk in glass bottles – organic milk). What you do is set the milk bottle behind a chair, kneel on the chair and look over the back. Then, carefully drop the clothes pins into the milk bottle. The one who gets the most pins into the bottle wins.
Hide and Seek, and Red Light, Green Light on dusky summer evenings. On rainy days Monopoly, at home or Rook and Dominos with Grandma and Great Grandma at Grandma's house. We also liked to ride our bikes and (don't tell) we played with Daddy's row boat on the trailer behind the garage.
Loved playing in the dark on summer nights. Lots of the games mentioned above and rummy. My dad was a cheater so i had to learn to cheat better to win. To this day my ister tells everyone i am a cheater- AND I AM NOT THANK YOU VERY MUCH! But I still think Joe Corso'a game CHEAT sound fun!

The game I loved playing most was "house" with my little sisters and brother, they were my "children" and I was the mommy. As we got older there was all kinds of board games for playing inside and outside there was hide and go seek, hopscotch, 4 square, dodge ball, cowboys and Indians, Simon says, red rover, marbles, steel the flag, king of the hill and so many more.
Anyone every play Ghost in the Graveyard? My friend was talking about it the other day but couldn't remember how it went. Sounds like you just try to creep each other out in the dark.
Well we played a game that no one else did. Having no real toys we made up games. So we played a game we called Jump Board. There was always a log and a board laying around somewhere. Us kids would put a 2/12 or something large enough to jump on, over the log. One kid on one end, and one on the other, One jumped and bounced the other up taking turns, until the momentum got where we could knock them high enough to bounce our opponent off. then someone would take their place. It was fun, Got a lot of exercise too. Not a fat kid in the bunch.
operation, monopoly, cards, uno, and there was this wall that we bounced a ball off of in a wallyball like fashion, I don't remember the scoring mechanism
Unlike kids today we made up alot of our fun,and were hardly ever inside,we played games like hide n seek,redlight greenlight some remember it as statue,badmitton (we played that in the street) inside we played jacks,school,sometimes we just broke out coloring books and crayons
