If I were the jealous type, I would certainly be jealous of my mother's garden. She has three lots in which she has planted everything from Rose of Sharon to Sunflowers to a Trumpet Vine. The following photos are what was blooming at the time of our visit this month. Any help in identifying those not ID'd would be appreciated.
Pretty pink bells:

Love the cone shape on top. Very simple.
This one reminds me of a sunflower's colors.

Is this a sage variety?
Pretty in pink:
Even though I have no idea what these yellow flowers are, I keep thinking of the song "Fill me up, buttercup".
Her roses. I can never keep mine alive.

I had never seen this blue flower before, it was actually quite delicate looking.

One of my favorites: Snapdragon. If I got more sun in front of my house, I would plant some.

Sunflower. Reminds me of Nicole P. :)
Mom couldn't remember the name of these flowers, but she said she would never get them again. She said they were too difficult to keep looking nice.
I don't know about you, but I never get tired of wandering in the garden, whether it's mine, mom's or even yours!

Thank you, Heather. Me too!
Thanks for the info, Laura.
Rob, I love it! Matt and I actually bought a Mr Beer machine a few years ago. The problem was that all my beer tasted like hard cider because we added extra sugar to increase the amount of alcohol.
I can help you with the flowers. Starting at the top left is foxglove, next to it - drumstick allium, below that - gloriosa daisy, one the left/blue either a sage or veronica, next a pink penstemon, sundrops, roses of course - I don't know the varieties, blue balloon flower is next to the snapdragons and the last one is an annual - torenia or wishbone flower.
I will post to your group, and get this updated with the proper ID. THanks again.
on the essay and to your mom on her garden!
LOVE IT!
I love snapdragons too!
Thanks for the meandering through the blooms!
Thanks, Kar.
1. "Pretty Pink Bells" are definitely Pink Foxgloves.
2. "Cone Shape" ~ looks like an Allium... could be the Drumsticks variety
3. "This one reminds me of a sunflower's colors" ~ Black-eyed Susan?
4. "Sage variety" ~ Yup... looks like a Purple Veronica
5. "Pretty in Pink" ~ I couldn't see the foliage so I could be wrong. They are probably flowers on a Heuchera, Purple Palace maybe? Commonly called Coral Bells
6. "Fill Me Up Buttercup" ~ I believe they are called Missouri Primroses
7. "Delicate Blue" ~ It's Chinese Bellflower, commonly called Balloon Flower. It also comes in white and a rare pink.
8. Purple something ~ I'm tempted to identify them as Calibrachoas. They have become popular lately for hanging planters. If they are Calibrachoas of the nightshade family, they are annuals here in the Midwest... they are related to petunias.
Maybe this will be of some use this summer?
3. Is a Gloriosa daisy
5. Stems are too sturdy and the flowers too big for a Heuchera. I'd say instead that it's BeardTongue or Penstemon.
6. Can also be the more common Sundrops.
8. After a little more research I'm more inclined to call these Torenia's, because of the coloring and shape of the flowers.
Better late than never, Necee :)
