Life is complicated. We always seem to be going from point A to point B and back again. There is always another load of laundry or sink full of dishes waiting. Last minute projects and the church bake sale we almost forgot about steal those extra minutes. Most people don't think of doing it, but maybe we should all mark on calendars time for those things we need to do to maintain our relationships, our gardens, our homes or our vehicles. What would you put first in your calendar every week to make time for, that you are not doing now?

I'm doing plenty right now.
I have four children and there was never time to be me for myself. My oldest will be 34 this year and my youngest just turned 13. Your desires are all different but your quest seems to be the same. Please consider scheduling me time to do something that makes you happy. Just like you would a doctors appointment. Consider it depression prevention therapy. If you don't make me time, you may feel like you have lost part of yourself over the years. If you make the time to do something that makes you happy you will be a much different person tackling the difficult mundane tasks. Which would you rather have a tired happy Mom /Dad or a tired unhappy Mom/Dad? Your kids and your spouse might not be thrilled at first but if it puts a spring in your step and give you some time every week to look forward to, it will benefit them!
It may seem like a lot out of your budget but get a babysitter once a week and do "me time" for a few hours. You deserve it.
Thanks Sheila! We need those eight days a week the Beatles sang about!
Thanks hmbiuw! I know the feeling when life gets busy!
Thanks for all of the positive thoughts! Good article!
Reading, writing, agitating, dancing, singing and thinking not so deep thoughts.
Life can be sweet sometimes.
I spent more years than I care to think about trying to squeeze more things into a day. Worked 90 hours a week at regular jobs and managed to squeeze in side jobs all the time. I also found that two hours a night sleep isn't good for anyone. I really found out that with all that working I lost touch with what I was working for.
