I ran across some wacky but interesting facts in Harpers magazine today, on the Harper's Index page. I just thought they might be useful in the debate about the politicization of the Department of Justice, Karl Rove's role in the administration, and former Surgeon General Carmona's accusations that he was scripted, muzzled, and scheduled by partisan political appointees who did not give a fig about medicine or science. Specifically, I noticed some gatherites commenting no big deal, this happens in every Presidency.
"Number of Bush White House officials who are authorized to discuss pending criminal cases with the Justice Dept.-711"
"Number of Clinton officials who were so authorized- 4"
hmm.okay, or how about..
"number of Bush appointees who regulate industries they used to represent as lobbyists- 85" yeah, hurry up guys, it's time to resign and go back to work as lobbyists with all those useful White House phone #s in your blackberries.
"Percentage of federal inspectors general appointed by Bush who had prior audit experience-36%. Percentage of federal inspectors general appointed by Clinton who had prior audit experience-66%"
It is perhaps also worth a mention that White House staff in previous administrations did not use email accounts provided by their political parties that are immune from public scrutiny. so- anyone still care to argue that Bush is typical in his attitudes towards the politicization of federal agencies & the White House?

And it is the PEOPLES' JOB to hold this guy to the fire, which even the DEMOCRATS aren't doing. Why not?
