The "A Hero In My Life" contest in veterans.gather.com generated close to 100 superb entries about heroes from all walks of life. After the Gather community narrowed down their favorite top ten entries, the Gather editorial team has unanimously decided on a Grand Prize Winner for the contest.
Eric I. has been chosen for his entry A True Hero!
Eric's creative, inspiring, and heartfelt essay introduced us all to a brave man who has been a true hero to his family, his country, and to people throughout the world. Eric has won a 3-day, 2-night stay in Washington D.C. on Veterans Day weekend. His trip includes VIP seating at a Veteran's Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, plus invitations to attend a private reception following the ceremony!
Three runners up have been chosen for the contest. They are (in alphabetical order):

Each runner up will receive a copy of the book Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Dutyby Nick Del Calzo.
