my son comes home today!

I have not discussed this much on Gather, but my 17 year old son has been away in treatment.  We have had many ups and downs and bumps along the way.  He does not have drug or alcohol problems, but some emotional issues.  He graduates today.  I get to go pick him up from South Lake Tahoe.  I am hopeful that he has put some demons to rest, and will grow to be the wonderful young man I know is in there.  Wish us luck!

Wonderful, Sue. My husband went through rehab at about that age. He really turned his life around. I know your son doesn't have those same issues, but a good counselor can make all the difference in the world. I hope it's the same for your son.

Sue, he will be fine, Billy spent some time in a place for his emotions when I first got him four and a half years ago and he has been not too well, but is emerging nicely now and is going to school and I see a bright future for him. At one time, no one did. So I wish you the very best and your son too, God Bless your family

Sue, I've been told that Lake Tahoe is a part of a healing vortex area so I'm sure it helped in your son's healing of his inner turmoil. May he have found the depth of peace that passes all understanding and find support, comfort, and empathy from others as he is not the same person before he left. Be blessed in comfort that healing has taken place and you will emerge a stronger family unit.

Yes. There seems to be peace surrounding him now. I took him immediately to the Lake after picking him up, and we sat for at least an hour on the rocks. I wanted him to feel grounded before doing anything else.
