THE AXE MAN
Chip, chip, chip
as he chisels at the door,
what is he trying
to gain entry for?
All is quiet
and all are asleep,
so up the stairs
he has to creep.
You know not why
but you wake with a fright,
you sit up quick
and oh what a sight.
For there, in front
at the end of your bed,
stands a man with an axe
not a word to be said.
No time for reaction
you sweat in despair,
as he wields his axe
way up in the air.
As quick as a flash
he brings it down,
it's now embedded
in your crown.
He leaves as he came
but this time, fast,
for he knows your breath
was definitely your last.
But he's still out there somewhere
chipping at doors,
i wonder who's next
could it be yours?
Based on a true story from the year 1918.

Sweet #10.
Told in all its glory.
It is indeed a fearful sight
The axe-man waving the axe,
with all his might.
I doubt if anyone can beaer it,
He will be dead before he is hit!
Who was this guy?
The axe man got me my friend
Blood stained sheets and a pain in my head
Is a sure sign I must be dead...
Love the rhyme, great story content Ony but you need to lighten up a little or your never going to get any sleep....my British love. BTW to you prefer a single or double bladed axe??? I guess for today cruel world chain saws work best...
there will be no creaking stairs as he enters the door
But my alarm will sound out in the night to signal his entry
this nasty old ax man of fright. oops.
Great scary poem ONA. Thanks.

You reprieved yourself by coming up with another great one, gentle lady.
Too bad Alfred Hitchcock is dead, would probably use it in one of his movies.
I wouldn't sell it to Stephen King, though. King doesn't have enough class
(sorry King fans).
I guess I belong with the optimists. CR
