If I told you the truth, you would probably tell me to shut the heck up and just go away.
If I told you the truth, you would sneer at me in rebuke.
If I told you the truth, you would betray yourself in more indiscretions to cover up.
The truth being, is that we are all shortsighted, narrow minded, insolent, covetous, and greedy. Plus whatever other adjective fits here. You don't think so? The right buttons pushed at the right time in any of our lives could drive you and me my friend, right over the proverbial edge.
We seem to "act" differently under pressure, stressed out, or even sleep deprived. Or add a few of your own ideas here too. We can be the Dr. Jekel - Mr. Hyde scenario all on our own. I have seen myself change from a kind hearted, soft spoken, human being - to a monster with the mouth of a truck driver. Am I proud of it? Not in the least; only have learned to see the truth inside myself first and not be afraid to admit it. Then try to prevent it from growing into another kind of monster all together. It does however help me from speaking the truth to others at times when all they need from me is my silence.

Silence, indeed, can be Golden.
It is more than true that each of us lives with sin indwelling in us some just under the surface others deep into their souls. As each is confronted with our own choices through out out lives. Some make that choice to walk the path towards God but there is nothing we can do to rid ourselves of these sins. Because without God we are nothing, God alone holds the key that can remove sin, yes even from our own nature.
