The Queen of Dandelions

The Queen of Dandelions stood in my front yard
She was planting her seeds, my dog barked hard
I said you're naughty, she gave me a finger salute
Then moved on to my neighbor, not home but at work

All my neighbors were singing and dancing around
It was quite a commotion that soon made me frown
They sang 'Dandelion wine and I'm feeling fine'
And each yard that I saw was covered with dandelion

Oh me, oh my, gosh darnit and my wife said Ohio
This four letter word was more than I could swallow
Then on my TV a parade for the Dandelion Queen
And the dandelion wine made the crowd giddy with glee

I felt my wife shake me, 'you're having a bad dream'
So I shook off the cobwebs and drank some hot tea
I looked outside relieved my lawn was still green
Just then a white haired lady walked by and gave me a wink

OMG.. I love this!!!!!!!!!! As a child growing up I could NEVER understand people wanting to kill those dandelions! They were awesome! LOL

Hello William. Hello Elsie. The grass is all dying around here, and the dog's beginning to develop a taste for dandelion. She recommends a few plums, well-fermented from lying in the sun, to add body. And ants as an added bonus (but of course, chocolate's bad for dogs).

Nice job, William, enjoyed the universal form of humor. My hubby says that as long as the lawn is green, who cares what form of green. Thanks for sharing.

It should be some sort of Yellow Alert to signify dandelions.

We could even have various shades of yellow to denote how close she is:

Pale Yellow: she's still in New York

Bright Yellow: she's close to your house.
i used to love the dandelions as a kid. they used to grow in abundance.

So she IS the Dandelion Queen!!!!! I will love my dandelions all the more. Seriously, for the rest of my life I will probably think of Elsie and William each spring as the Dandelions take over and my neighbors glare at me behind my back because I let them grow.

William is somewhat obsessed with dandelions, ants and Mr Ed. Elsie and I have tried to get him into therapy but he won't leave his TV room where he keeps watching Mr Ed reruns.
