I LOVE to cook! I cook dinner every night for my family. Only on rare occasions do we order take out. Since I'm a SAHM, I also get to cook breakfast and lunch each day too! I love to cook from scratch. And, I'm a big fan of cooking quickly and cooking healthy foods.
I usually plan out my meals a week in advance. I know what we're having each day that week. There's always room for changes if my husband or I decide we don't want chicken one night, or something like that. But, for the most part, our meals are planned out. This helps out with the grocery shopping too. I know what we're having all week, so I know what I need when I make out my grocery list. This saves us from those mid-week runs to the grocery store for one or two things.
My friends and I joke that I'm the "50's Wife Made Modern" meaning that I cook and clean like a mad woman, but I also speak my mind and don't take crap from my hubby LOL.
Does anyone else fall into this category? Do you love cooking too? Or, are you more of a take-out kind of person?

I wouldn't have it any other way! I just wish I didn't have to do the cleaning part :(
Shannon, I think cooking from scratch tastes so much better! I don't mind the cleaning up. The only cleaning I don't like is cleaning the toilet! YUCK
You're right, Jill, planning your meals and using coupons when you shop can save a lot of money and time!
I hate cleaning the toilet too! It's gotta be done :(
Michelle, it's actually really easy to plan out your meals for the week. For instance, I go grocery shopping on Saturday morning (most of the time) because hubby gets paid on Friday and that gives me time to make out the bills so I'll know how much I can spend on groceries for the week.
So, I need dinner for Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, & Fri (that's 7 days) until the next shopping trip. I usually buy 2 roasts, steaks, chicken legs, boneless skinless chicken breasts, and ground beef. That way, I can make a marinated BBQ'd roast, a pot roast, grilled chicken legs, grilled chicken breasts, and either pasta or hamburgers. I usually pick which meal is on which night based on which meat expires first, and space it out so we don't have chicken two nights in a row, or different kinds of roast two nights in a row. Then, we have summer and winter menus too. I'm rambling now, so I'll stop.
Hey, did you get all of that great meat with your gift card here from Gather? I might do an Omaha Steak gift card this time around but wanted to make sure you can use those we get from Gather online?!
How much did you pay out of pocket and how long did it take to arrive? You can send me a PM if you don't want to post it here!
Thanks girl!
My personal chef...lol
JILL I would have been on my hands and knees praising God if I could have been a stay at home mom. But you can bet I had all fresh cooked meals on the table, before school, work, and when I got home at night. It was worth it. Because all my daughters friends said they liked to come here so they would get breakfast before school Keep up the good work. Its worth it,because they will remember it later. Norma
As weird as this sounds, have recently enjoyed the daily trip to the store for dinner items. it isn't too far from home and it is easy to see what each meal costs.
As far as th enjoyment...though I enjoy cooking I HATE cleaning and I am the only person who does it. So the whole thing becomes a task.
