BlogHer , the premier womens' blogging network, has asked me to start a weekly How to Write series.  My introduction - including the series schedule through July - is now online:

Words in a Row: Write with Birdie

I'm excited about this project, and hope that some of you sign up for a free account at BlogHer so that you can join the discussion and post your own writing selections "after class." (Men are welcome at BlogHer!)

Each time I post a new lesson, I will let you know here at Gather. I plan on featuring some of the amazing writers at Gather in some of my lessons. If you have an article that you think would fit one of my upcoming lessons, please drop me a note or comment here.

Birdie, your article was fantastic! And I have to tell you, that I had a similar yet opposite reaction from my own father to my writing. I wanted to be a singer, but singers were a "dime a dozen" and he wanted me to be a writer -- so instead , I studied science. Go figure?
