Vampire Movies

Had a conversation with a friend last night about Vampire movies and got to thinking that possibly somewhere along the way I may have missed one or two.  Please name your favorite Vampire movie, tell me why you like or liked it and please just give me one movie per response.  Thanks all!  Have fun or I will drink your blood...(Just for the record, one of my favorites is "Queen of the Damned." love that Stewart Townsend guy in his leather pants...hot stuff!!)

"Love at First Bite" with George Hamilton as the vampire. One of the BEST movie lines is in that film. After he is offered some marijuana to smoke - he's told it's "good s***", he says, "I don't drink liquor and I don't smoke s***" in a wonderfully fake Transylvanian accent.
There's lots of disco dancing in the movie. I left the theater and went dancing the evening I saw the movie.

Leslie - I thought "Love at first bite" was ok but not one of my favorites. Thanks for the post!

I also loved "Bram Stokers Dracula" with the great actor Gary Oldman! Killer Vampire film! I can watch it over and over again. Theres just something so sensual about the movie that I love. The introduction is pretty cool too after he finds out that his wife has thrown herself to her death. If you haven't seen it, you must in this genre of film.

Avoiding that which has already been named: "My Best Friend is a Vampire" & "Lost Boys" (I also liked Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Love at First Bite. Drawn to campy and luscious in equal parts I guess. ;) )

An old Vampire movie that I love from way back in '67 is called "The fearless vampire killers" which is very scary but hilarious as well! A real must see.

Lune - thanks for naming your favorites...have seen all and are in my top ten list but haven't seen "My Friend is a Vampire". When did it come out and who is in it?

Lori - wasn't that movie really funny and scary at the same time? I watch it on cable whenever it comes on but it has been at least 15 years since I saw it the last time.

Oh yes. At the tender age of 10 I sat in that theater with my friends on a Saturday afternoon and alternately cringed and laughed my ass off. Brilliant movie. I'd love to find a copy of it on DVD.

Queen of the Damned and for wit I liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie) and I still love watching reruns of the show. I can't think of the name of it but there was a movie where Nik Cage thought he was a vampire and wore fake teeth

I love vamp movies but I cant even think of any that werent named.....loved the fearless vampire killers....roman polanski. This is fun esther you should do an article on other horror movies....like werewolves...I am much better at naming them.

Lori you are really mad about Vampires too aren't you?? That Nicolas Cage movie was a gas and really gross too. It was really gross when he eats that roach or was it a rat? Don't remember but it was GROSS!!

Kiss of the Vampire, or Embrace of the Vampire. Alyssa Milano(sam- who's the boss) all grown up, and doing the nasty with Drac. Very cool flick.

I cant believe that no-one has mentioned the "Blade" trilogy, with Wesly Snipes.
Or "From Dusk till Dawn" , which is one of the greatest ever.

James - Fright Night was indeed a pretty cute Vampire movie.

Jody - You're right! How could anyone forget the opening of "Blade" when they're in the disco dancing and then vavavoom the blood suckers start their own dance, don't want to go to that club! LOL! And of course, "From Dusk til Dawn" with what his name George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino...Isn't it or isn't is that skinny guy with the new tv series that appeared in "Against All Odds"??

There are so many I love! For funny it's Dead And Loving It !
The other 2 faves are Bram Stoker's Dracula. Gary Oldman does a wonderful job and it's romantic as heck. The other is the 1979 version of Dracula staring Frank Langella. The man was HOT HOT HOT!!! And that scene in the depths of the graves with poor dead Mina was SCARY SCARY SCARY!
I agree with Missy. Frank Langella was the hotest Dracula ever. And they took Dracula's dialogue straight from the book in that movie. My favorite Dracula of all time.

My all time favorite was "Nightlife" with Ben Cross, Keith Szarabajka. I can't remember what year it was released but it was in the 90's. It was kind of a comedy and Ben Cross makes a hot vampire. He was in Dark shadows also. Not the original though.

Nightlife aired on USA network back in the day and I just fell in love with Keith's voice -drools- He's been in Angel series as the vampire Hunter Holtz and he was in the second Batman movie the newer one with Joker.

I only recently began to appreciate vampire movies after watching a TV show Vampire High absolutely fell in love with it,especially the story behind it, gripping. I have even made a site based on the show http://grotchops.com
