I finished the next chapter on my current WIP and took a break to check my email, gather and all those yahoo groups I'm connected to. I love reading all the advice, listening to success stories, posting my own promos, but the time...
It's very tempting to spend hours online reading, posting, chatting and generally not working on your writing. I sometimes get caught up and before I realize it, an hour or more has passed. I recently read an article that talked about some very successful novelists and how they organized their day. One thing they all had in common was restricting their time online whether it's promotion, blogging or even updating their websites. I've been trying that and it works. I've written over 20,000 words on my manuscript in the past ten days. Look at your own time on the net and make sure it's not your procrastination tool.

On the positive note, however, I started to use browse during ad breaks when I watch tv. This lets me have my daily fill of the internet while minimising time waste during hours that should be more productive.
