MY GOAL

I am going to do a little game that I want your help with please....

I am saving for remodel supplies for my house, stuff like paint and a new kitchen light, etc.  I am trying to get the Home Depot gift card and need to earn 202 more points.

I also have enough to cash in on Netwinner for a $50.00 card.  I would be able to buy enough paint and almost the light between these 2 cards.

I need help getting the 202 points.

My tip is: allow twice as much time and three times as much money as originally budgeted to complete your project.

Painting Tip #12...Never finger paint your walls...always use a paint brush or roller.

I haven't done much painting/remodeling, and I am sure you know more than I do, but my tip is:

When using rollers on a pole (for ceilings or high places on walls), don't push too hard! I broke 2 in half (within 10 minutes of each other) that way.

Oh, and wear thick shoes! My dad and I both broke a toe (within a 1/2 hour of each other) by being stupid about that.

No pointers here sorry... but if you're patient enough to wait until Monday for your points and you've got the photos sitting around on your hard drive... just post 20 photos... if they aren't "great" photos, just post them to a 10 point group. I believe Dan has one.

20 seems like a lot, but it's really not that bad. I've got it down to a science now and can do 59 in 18 minutes haha.

Paint with primer first, it costs more but in the end requires less of the color paint.

Painting I don't know about but if you want that Home depot card post 100 photos a day and by Sunday evening midnight you will have that gift card. I did just that last week and ordered mine this past Monday evening when the points hit. By this Monday I should have another $50 gift card as I posted another 300 this week.
make sure you wash the walls first
have a drink of something good
patch the holes and cracks... use something intended for that
make sure you drink something good
sand the rough spots.... use sand paper, not sand
make sure you drink something good
use primer and a roller and a brush and a drop cloth

Ever notice the caps to those molly bolts have a little pie shape cutout and a tiny hole above that? That is so that if you want to remove them, unscrew the bolt, then use some sharp needle-nose pliers to grip into the tiny hole and the cutout below it, then twist out away from the wall and the cap pops off! Now you can drive the molly shaft into the wall until it drops down behind he wall board and you have a small easily plastered over hole left to patch!

Painters tape is good but also dont get lazy and forget to take it off, it pulls tons off a month later.
Also spend a few extra bucks (umm like one) and get the masks with the resparator built in (plastic thing in the middle) your lungs will thank you.

Use Kilz on any spots on the wall that won't wash off. They WILL bleed through your paint, especially if you're painting a light color.

Good luck, dunno much about remodeling. Don't use regular light bulbs...florescents save on your electric bill.

Tracey I hope I'm not too late. If you hadn't commented on my site I would never have found you. I love to paint believe it or not and experiment a lot. It's kind of funny I stood on our table outside taped handles together and paint brush till I could reach the peak of the roof trim. :) I'm more frightened of ladders at least a table you a=can move around. Did your son make to work that day? :)

Oh I have absolutely no idea what kind of tip to give you on remodeling so instead I'll just ramble or something to give you some points. Does that work for you? I am actually doing the exact same thing - using my points to get the Home Depot gift cards in order to do some home improvement projects. I think there are many people on here doing that too.

I've only been able to order one gift card so far and it hasn't even showed up yet!!! I feel as if I've waited forever for it to arrive. I've been told it is taking longer because of the photo promo thing which apparently gave many people enough points to order things. I guess I will continue to wait (impatiently!).
