3 large red skinned potatos boiled chilled and skinned and sliced thin
1 to 1 1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons miracle whip 
2 teaspoons mashed garlic
1/4 of a large vidallia onion small diced and sauteed in the bacon grease
4 strips of bacon fried crisp curmbled and drained
hand full of fresh chives picked from the garden washed and chopped fine
garilc pepper salt seasoning to taste
2 ounces crumbles sharp cheddar cheese
In a bowl combine potatos, sour ceam, miracle whip,garlic, most of the sauteed onion and bacon, and most of the cheddar cheese
Turn with spoon to combine
season with garlic pepper salt to taste.
put in clean bowl and top with remaining onion bacon cheese and chives
chill and serve

Boy do I love potato salad, but red potato skins are the best!
I think I'll go try to burn some ice cubes, now.
(I do mayo too...but OTHER HALF likes the whip, so its what I had)
really turned out yummy though...
so how was your fourth....we got rain.... an thunder that made me think of those who instead of celebrating might be seeking cover....
We did gget a nice, long soaking rain off and on all night....so the garden looks very happy this morning..;-)
