As I wander around articles here on Gather I come across more and more that are bashing liberals, republicans and democrats.
If you look closely at the articles there seems to be a common theme. All of us want problems solved. We want something done about the war in Iraq. We want the illegal immigration and border security problems solved. We want to be able to exercise our Constitutional right to free speech.
Then why all the bickering and name calling? If Senator Kennedy introduces a bill that gives amnesty to all illegals should you hold every democrat responsible for it?
If President Bush introduces similar legislation should you then hold all republicans guilty by party affiliation?
My guess is that the PEOPLE...meaning you and I want about the same things.
It seems that lately the party leaders not only contribute to this but are encouraging it. They want the republicans to hate the democrats and vice versa.
Why do you suppose that is?
My answer is: If "We the People" got together and realized that we all want the same things and crossed party lines and got along together then the Powers that be in Washington would be peeing in their tailor made pants and skirts.
My 2 cents.

Hi Carol D.
Lost soul thanks. I think we would be amazed at what could be accomplished if we stopped letting others pick our battles.
tamara thanks.
It's always easier for people to blame things on a group than deal with ideas. Any time I see phrases that begin with "All..." I generally turn on my disbelief.
There's a classic logic paradox: "Is the class of all classes a member of itself?" In non-mathematical terms: "Is everything a part of everything?" :)
Dan I love the mouse and the bear. Thanks.
and to vote for someone who is neither Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative. We've given these two parties to much of our hard earned money and we haven't seen solutions to problems here. We need to change our country
before we can really help any other country.
Joe very right. Maybe someone could form the Sanity Party.
Nice read Lori.
Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
But someone that quotes party lines, I bash them easily on either side. LOL Equal Oppertunity baby!
Extreamests on both sides actually scare me, as too many of the Extream Liberals would seem to want to just give in to the terrorists as so not to have to defend our Country. Extream Conservitives would just as soon go to war with the world and say F*** you all because we can.
To be honest, I am beginning to really become more in favor of closing our boarders and going back to our Issolationist ways that had been imposed on us after WWI. If the rest of the world suffers, so be it, not our responcibility any more, run to France for help.
Dan good comment I especially love the run to France for help part.
Really though, Hate just isn't one of my values. I get disgusted with some people, but I don't hate them.
Bill I dont really hate anyone either. It was a satire thing.
esther thats ok whatever you are I like you.
I agree that most Americans want the same thing. I agree congress has lost touch with reality. What I can't figure out is why. Aren't they Americans too?
PS- I am a liberal too.
I refuse to think of myself as any particular side or style.
I agree there is to much division in this country and it seems to be going from bad to worse.
DB10....................
There are people who will not vote for a candidate, no matter HOW qualified he may be otherwise, who is "Pro-Choice" or who advocates for Gay Marriage. There are others who will automatically vote for the opposition candidate if one calls himself "Pro-Life" or believes that school prayer should be allowed.
There will never be a "perfect candidate" who will encompass all the beliefs and positions of every single American Citizen. It's just never going to happen. The best we can hope for is someone who will truly fulfill his/her vow to "Faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.", unlike the current occupant of said office.
Don't hate me because I speak my mind
Don't hate me because I am going to speak my mind and stand for what I believe in
Don't hate me because I'm a REPUBLICAN
Mooch
I actually doubt very much that most of us want the same thing anymore. For too many of the left/right spectrum, they want to push their beliefs on everyone with the power of government. For the rest of us, we simply want a nation where we are largely left alone to succeed or fail on our own.
