I am going to give you a list of some foods, their storage time, and the problems. Hope you print this out and save it. I like to always date my foods, and throw them out when I they are too old.
Baking powder & soda, cornstarch, & gelatin....18 months to 2 yrs. unopend or opened...Take the moisture and loses effedtiveness.
Canned frosting...3 months unopened, 2 - 3 weeks opened in refrig....Dries out or picks up other flavors.
Dried beans and peas....12 months unopened or opened....Can become moldy or hard to cook.
Dried fruit....12 months unopened or opened...Can become moldy or hard to cook.
Flour....6-8 months unopened or opened. Store whole wheat flour in ref.... Attracts bugs, whole wheat can become rancid.
Ground coffee....2 years unopened and 2 - 4 weeks opened...Takes on other flavors or looses flavor.
Honey....12 months unopened and 6 months opened... Can dry out and crystalize.
Mayo or salad dressing...10-12 months unopened and 2-3 months opened....Can become rancid.
