Bah. I've been trying to get my LCD monitor taken somewhere to be fixed, only to be informed that most places don't even look at monitors. Further, Dell itself refuses to deal with it unless you have an express service code (which is located on the back of complete computer systems... not so much monitors, and especially not monitors acquired from Overstock.com instead of being acquired from them directly.)
So, I've got to acquire a new monitor somehow - because it looks like there's nothing that can be done about this one. I'm poor and unemployed, so recently, I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist and hoping for something lucky and reasonably nearby. Otherwise, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy one. My unemployment's been approved, at least, so as long as I'm looking for work (and/or job training), we won't starve. Still, after rent, gas, and food, there's very little left in the budget for a computer monitor.
I know it sounds like a lot of whining, but twisting my body to use Laura's computer and monitor hurts like heck - which is the last thing I need now - and I seriously can't take much more of this.
If you're in the South New Jersey area and just happen to have a monitor sitting around, or feel generous enough to ship one that you have, do me a favor and let me know. After I see what happens on July 9th with Vocational Rehabilitation (ie: whether they can help me get job training or not), I'll see what our budget can afford as far as socketing away cash for a new monitor ... but if I can get it replaced without a triple-digit dent on my battered bank account, that would be very much preferable.

I am a moderator for our local freecycle(tm) group.
We see a lot of monitors offered and asked for.
It wouldn't hurt to join and ask and see if you get a response!
I've also known someone who got a good working one at goodwill.
They won't be the latest model but the ones I've seen thru fc work!
Please vote for my short story
If you do, be sure to avoid touching anything that might hold a residual charge. I know that it is said that you can't store electricity, but that's just a lot of bunk.
next time, get the extended warranty
Cal Poly just let out here and you wouldn't believe the stuff they just leave by the side of the road!
I have seen some monitors in thrift stores, but I worry that they are broken too. Me, I need a printer. It is driving me crazy not to be able to print right now!
All those coupons, just passing me by......
I know someone who has gotten whole computers including monitor out of the trash bin on college campuses. College students evidently throw a lot away at the end of the year before they go home.
Hope something comes up!!
