President Bush has commuted the prison sentence awarded to "Scooter" Libbey, after his conviction on charges of obstruction of justice and lying to Federal investigators. He remains subject to two years probation and a quarter-million dollar fine. Bush says that he "respects" the court's verdict, but that he considered Libbey's sentence to be excessive.

Again King George shows his disdain for the American System of Justice. He said "the sentence was excessive" and his friend "scooted" out of jail time. What about all those folks doing excessively long jail terms for tiny amounts of marijuana (some convicted in the 70s and still in prison).
To those who are going to support the King and insult those of us who can recognize a Despot - they can rest assured that their King would never help them get out of jail.

This wasn't a pardon and Nixon was never sentenced to jail time. "Scooter" went through legitimate legal action where a judge passed a legitimate sentence.

Oh man, I never considered that. Excellent point.

In addition to the personal harm to Valerie Plame, all of us have lost a resource in the era of terrorism from weapons of mass destruction. Anyone serious about protecting America would not place retaliation above the safety of the country. Commuting the sentence of Scooter Libbey only serves to expose the triviality with which the President and Vice President treat national security. A travesty to be sure.
What's the surprise here?
As Hubbard says - Be Loyal.
This is yet another case of "the law doesn't apply to me" from the current administration.
Loyality.
Libby did what he was told to do and why would anyone except the result to not be as it is.
Most disgusting man in the White House I have ever known...and hope he is the last bad egg - I don't give a dam which party they belong to - if they are anywhere connected with anyone in this administration - we are in for a very bad time....
George'll show us he's no lame duck, indeed. I voted for the man, but am looking forward to turning the page on this chapter.
