Warning: E-mail virus targeting professionals

I just wanted to post a quick warning. Today I received two e-mails with .pdf attachments. Neither came from people I know. Both e-mails had the subject line as the name of the pdf computer file. I immediately suspected them to contain a virus, deleted both without opening them, and immediately emptied my "Deleted Items" folder.

Turns out that I was prudent to do so. See this article from C|Net News, "New virus travels in PDF files." Thankfully, I'm not at risk right now since I don't have the full Adobe software program (I just have the reader version right now). But, I'm just about to upgrade. I'm so glad my gut told me what to do.

Glad you deleted them. I never open emails from with attachments from people that I dont know either. Thanks for the warning.

Smart move, Ms. Meacham. I, personally don't open anything whose source I am not familiar with. Anything at all doubtful...I delete.

I got several of these emails too. A couple of them had names that could have made sense with my industry, but luckily I checked the senders ...

Thx for head's up!.....as a rule of thumb, i never open anything from anyone unknown to me,or who doesn't put the proper subject info i request for my photo biz email....my anti-virus filters usually toss all to bulk, but some do slip by....

Anytime a virus can spread and operate through a program that works on multiple platforms, it becomes a threat to all systems. Thanks for the heads up!
