The Final Countdown: The Deathly Hallows Just a Day Away!

June 29, 2007 11:00 PM EDT (Updated: July 20, 2007 01:04 PM EDT)

July 21st, my friends. The seventh and final Harry Potter book. Some are looking toward that day with trepidation. Others with outright fear. And still others have completely stopped sleeping. Or eating, even.

You? What do you think Ms. Rowling has in store for us?

Where will you be tonight, as the clock strikes midnight?

I don't know. Ms. Rowling says that she doesn't want to continue with the Harry Potter series. So, she might probably kill off both Harry and Voldemort (good riddance). I really don't want to speculate too much, because I might be wrong.

She has to kill Voldemort or the series would go on with a new hero, maybe Neville!? I'm getting ready for the last book by reading the rest of the series to my youngest daughter (11). It brings her up to date and brings past events fresh in mind.

Anyone have any idea who R.A.B might be who stole the horcrux from book six is? Do you think we are going to get a new character in the final book?

I can't wait! I have already let my employees know that I am taking the day off to enjoy the Harry Potter madness. It's sad that it will be the last book in the series, though. I would love to read a book that gave us a look at Harry as an adult, just so that we know he turned out okay. Well, regardless, I counting down, just like everyone else.

Oh and I have always thought RAB is Regulus Black, but that is probably a little too obvious.

I think it is Regulus also (OOTP chapter 6 page 112 if you have the same book), and we saw a locket in Grimmauld Place when they were cleaning (same book and chapter, page 116). Either Mundungus has stolen it or Kreacher has it in his room. I think they may find more treasures there if they keep looking.

Regulus?! wow. the thought had never even crossed my mind. not to mention the note addresses him as the dark lord, since regulus was a death eater it fits.

any thoughts about the other three? obviously harry has to destroy all of them before he can have a final battle with voldemort.

I am going to a Harry potter prediction party. we are predicting who will die and all that stuff...
who do you think will die?

I am totally psyched for #7!

Regulus A. Black, sirius back's brother, death eater?, and aka RAB

There are theories that Regulus is also an Animagus and avoided death the same way Wormtail ( Peter Pettigrew) did. There is also speculation that Regulus is now Cruikshanks. (?) I am thinking more like Mrs. Norris. Any opinions? I think we will probably lose Moody, Sybil Trelawney, Hagrid and Snape. But Snape will turn out to have been, reluctantly, on Harry's side all along. He is turning out to be the strongest character JKR has written and has taken on a separate life of his own.
Personally, I love the tortured, valiant, solitary, embittered man that Snape has become. He is fascinating.

Also, RAB must be regulus a black.
he was sirius black younger brother, supposedly dead, not seen for ages, but could be unregistered animagi, as Gail says. quite possible theory. anyways, he served the dark lord. the horcrux he stole was a locket, and he replaced the real horcrux with a fake one, which is what harry and dumbledore found. The real one was the locket beloning to regulus they found in book 5 while cleaning mrs.black's home, 12 grimmauld st.
nobody knew the real horcrux was there, not even dumbledore.
is dumbledore even dead?

On Mugglenet.com JK said that Crookshanks and Mrs.Norris are not animagus, but cats. Though crookshanks is part magical creature. I also don't think that after all of these years JK is going to be able to just put down Harry Potter. We'll beg her for more and eventually she'll put out another book I think. Besides, just because voldemort might be dead doesn't mean he's the only scary badguy in the magical world? There could be a whole other series on someone else! ekk...I think Im fantasizing way to much.

I think JKR needs to write " The Life and Times of Severus Snape". His first name has such a tie-in to how the readers perceive him. Severus = Sever us = divide us.
Some of us love him, some loathe him, some are merely mystified. I am of the first group. I have always had a soft spot for a "bad boy".

Snape is my favorite character. I want him to turn out to be a sort of not so horrid guy. She could kill off Umbridge and I Woould not care. The whole family is going to some wing ding at Barnes and Noble. We reserved a book and intend to read it out loud as we have done for the rest of them. I think Dumbledore may still be alive somehow.

this is answer to allyson about other scary bad guys. Do you remember when harry and the other kids smashed a couple of the prophecies in OOTP chapter 25 page 785? one of the prophecies said "...and none will come after..." I think that was a prophecy that no other dark lord will come after Voldemort is finished. What do you think?
About Regulus, go back to chapter 6 of OOTP, Sirius says Regulus "...got in so far, the panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out." For that he was killed by Voldemort or on his orders.
I think Snape will die for sure.

Sandy, Thanks for mentioning that. I had to go back and read page 785 from the OOTP. That is a diversion of some sort, on JK Rowling side. Why else would that be mentioned or, is it another ruse to turn our attention from the obvious; that either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives. None will come after, is tricky. I love the theory of Regulus Black is still alive( his body was never found). He did turn his back on Voldemort, and I believe he did steal the locket. I would love it, if he came back to help finish off Voldemort. I hope that Snape doesn't die. He deserves a reprieve. Dumbledore is dead. JK Rowling said so in an interview at the New York reading, 2006. I thought he had cheated death up until that point too. We can't wait for the book to come out. Our excitement has been heighted since we read What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7, by Mugglenet.com. It has the most fansinating theories.

There are just a few problems I have with RAB being Regulus Black. First off, he isn't portrayed as the heroic sort and in fact was placed-along with the majority of the Black family-into Slytherin, thus we can safely assume that Regulus would be out to save his own skin whenever possible. It is highly unlikely then that he would do such a selfless task.

The locket in the Black manor also seemed to be much to poignant to actually be one of the horcruxes, although I suppose that if Jo has stooped down to the level of finally becoming predictable then RAB could be Regulus Black and the locket could still be at number 12 Grimmauld Place.

And I can't believe that there are people that still believe that Dumbledore is not dead. For God's sake that was one theory which was openly rejected by Jo and we all know how much she enjoys seeing the crazy theories we cook up. Dumbledore will appear again in some form, whether it is in memory, picture, or even possibly a way for Harry to communicate beyond the veil (it has been hinted that he will return to the Department of Mysteries within the final installment).

Horcruxes.1 Ring.2 Diary. 3. Locket. 4. Snake (?) 5. Voldemort himself. 2 more???????? I think theu will be found at Godric's Hollow. They will have to do with Harry's parents. And Bellatrix will have to die. Somehow she is key to this. She may even be the last horcrux. I think Snape will have to die in Harry's arms with a dying speech that explains all the outstanding questions. I hope. But you know, I wish Snape didn't have to die. I almost wish he lives and makes his peace with Harry and becomes the father figure Harry needs so desperately. But you know the old saying " If wishes were horses......"

I am really getting excited about the final book. I feel sad/happy because it is the last, yet I know I am going to love reading it. I have begun to re-read from book #1 and I have changed my mind about a few things, thanks to the re-read and reading others comments. I think that Dumbledore will come back in some form, too many hints in all the books. I also now think that Snape, altho a rather nasty fellow, is actually on the good side and that Snape and Dumbledore had planned his "death" - for all the reasons people are saying. I don't think Harry will die, but I think Snape may die a hero. I think RAB is Sirius's brother. I like the theory about the dragon being Dumbledore's brother. I just hate this to end, the books are so good. Even if it isn't wizards and Harry, I think JK Rowlings could publish the phone book and I would read every word of it - I hope she continues to write!

I don't believe she will kill off Harry. I don't believe so because it would destroy the legacy of her books. These are written mainly for children and if the 7th book lives up to the others, it will wrap up the adventure. If Harry dies, first of all who would buy the books for future kids and see them so disappointed at the end? In addition, I think she makes a tremendous amount of money from the movies as well. Try to imagine how those films would do if she kills off Harry. There are two more films to be made. Would you bother to go if Harry dies in the end?

I think Harry lives. I'm not entirely certain about too many others. I think Hermione and Ron survive. I'm worried about Mr. and Mrs. Weasley though and possibly Percy as well. Lupin could be in danger as well. Snape? I'm torn there. My gut feeling is that in the end he dies a hero saving Harry. Or he dies a villain trying to kill Harry. Either way I think he dies in the end. Voldemort has to die. There is a chance that his dying will seriously diminish Harry's magical abilities since many of those come from the accident that disabled Voldemort in the first place.

I am almost tempted to say that I think that Malfoy senior will die and Draco will either die trying to save his father, or somehow chicken out at the end but learn a lesson that will turn him permanently from the dark side.

On my very wish (but don't think possible list) is that somehow Neville's parents will be cured when Voldemort dies and Neville will have a normal life again. It's possible he's as forgetful and as inept as he is because a spell is somehow protecting him. Remember, he could have been the chosen one had Voldemort decided differently.

You are probably correct about Dumbledore coming back. Remember all the former headmasters have a portrait of themselves in the office and he probably has a couple more elsewhere. This way he will be able to comment to Harry.

It's a good book and has lots of speculations and theories. It heightens the suspense. I can't wait for the last book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be awesome.

I was one of those who thought that Dumbledore was still alive. I did not hear about JKR's statement that he was really dead. I do think that he will come back in a certain way (I don't know how) to help Harry. I feel that since Voldemort's powers are linked to Harry's and Harry's powers are linked to Voldemort's, that Harry will have to die in order to kill Voldemort. I also think that that's what JKR will do so as to not write any more Harry Potter books.

I think that whatever happens, I will miss waiting for and reading the newest Harry Potter books! It's always something that I'm doing, feeling a bit of Harry Potter mania. I fear that with the publishing of the final book, many Harry Potter lovers will go back into the woodwork. Sure, we still have the movies. However, if we, the readers, all know what's ultimitely going to happen, there is a certain...I don't know, lack of expectancy. Sure, we all know what's going to happen in the 5th movie, for example. However, I know that I'm going to be looking for hints relating to the last book (even though I know there probably aren't going to be any, haha).

Once I know how the seventh book ends, I fear that I am not going to view the sixth movie with the same eye. *shrugs*

So while I am totally psyched for the final book, I am also slightly saddened. I don't want to loose Harry Potter! ;-)

I think that I will miss reading the Harry Potter series too. The best children's books, an adult could read. I would be willing to hash out any conversations with anyone who wants to have one, after the last page of Book 7 is read. I love the ideas of RAB, not being the person who took the locket. If he's not, than who is RAB? I believe too that it's a little too obivious on that being so. JK Rowling did kill off Dumbledore, and no one was expecting that one? If Harry doesn't return to Hogwarts, how does Dumbledore give him information? Where else are his potraits, besides at the Department of Mysteries? Is Dumbledore connected to Fawkes, like Voldemort if connected to Nagini? To A N., I read What Will happen to Harry Potter 7; then I made my daughter read it too. That way, I could have someone to bounce theories off of. I also like that, they talk to JK Rowling, and get direction from her. She doesn't tell them their right, out loud. I can't wait to see what's at Godrics Hollow. Erin F. I also think that the movies will be more for visual enjoyment, not for the story lines. I've already got the tickets, for OOTP. We like to see them the first day. That way, the reviews of the movie comes out later. Just don't like people telling you the movie.

I think Snape will die too but not before he reveals something to Harry that will turn his heart towards him. I think when Harry finds out this information it will affect him so strongly that he will make a life choice right then and there. It will be something that will shock and dismay many readers and not affect others,.....there will be no middle ground when it comes to Harry in this last book and the reader will read the last line heartbroken and desperate to turn back time.

I still think that Snape will do good in the end too. I was quite taken back, when JK killed Dumbledore. So, I've learned not to cheer for anyone good. I just want the Weasley's to be spared some. I won't mind, if something happens to Percy though.

Harry Potter is my favorite book because, it's my daughter's favorite book. It's was one of the first series of books we could talk about. I never had to pressure her to read, and it's still the only series that allows a child to dream. I could go either way with Snape now; with JK you never know. I most curious to know what's in the locket and, I still want to know if RAB is Sirius Black's brother.

I for one, certainly hope we get a trial of Delores Umbridge for misuse of Dementors against an innocent and sadistic abuse of Harry. She should be sent to Azkaban for the rest of her life. I also think Dumbledore left Harry a legacy. Notes, diaries, the pensieve, bottled memories, a treasure trove of documentation about Harry's parents. And I hope Harry will find lots of information at Godric's Hollow. But you know that in POA it is mentioned that Harry's parents went into hiding. But Godric's Hollow was their home. Did JKR not rememher that? Or is there more to this?

I think that the Prophecy in OOTP is about Neville Longbottom, not Harry.

James Potter and his friends ridiculed Snape when they were students at Hogwarts, and Snape has never forgotten that. I think Snape will turn out to be a triple agent, ultimately being on Voldemort's side.

If Harry is wise, he will choose Hermione over Cho. Harry is destined to live a difficult life, and he needs Hermione's help in order to survive. Luna Lovegood would be my second choice for Harry to fall in love with.

J.K. Rowling says that the Deathly Hallows will be the last book, so that gives her the incentive to kill Harry off. I think that Rowling would be smart to end the Deathly Hallows with Ron and Hermione watching a struggle to the death between Harry and Voldemort, on the edge of the Reichenbach Falls, where Harry and Voldemort fall off, to their deaths!

I have a question, a really good one, and I hope this is the right place for it, or for that matter, a speedy response! My heart is already up in my throat just waiting for this book to come out, but because of my work schedule and my mom's, it's going to be so hard to get it! I can be at the "Borders Ball" on the 20th to pick it up, but here's the question, my mom reserved it in her name! Can I pick it up for her, or am I going to have to wait to pick up my copy...? :( Help!

P.s. I am REALLY sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. But hopefully you fellow Harry fans will understand my desperation and not be too harsh on me!

Kylee, I think Regulus is dead. He was killed by Voldemort or another death eater. In OOTP, Sirius says Regulus was murdered once he tried to leave the deatheaters. I think he stole the locket and left the note before he died. Then he left the locket at #12 Grimmauld Pl.

I think regulus is dead also. with all the comments, I'm now curious about Sirius' dad's name. I have the family tree the J.K. put out but not at my fingertips. does anyone know his dad's name? I just read the part (in OOTP) about Kreacher taking things they were throwing out and Sirius commented "Kreacher wasn't quite as devoted to him (father) as to my mother." yet he was stealing a pair of his father's trousers and something about a ring with the black family crest.... Could Sirius' dad be RAB?

I was lying awake last night thinking about Book 7 and came up with this one: Harry defeats Voldemort - but loses his powers, Hagrid dies (maybe defending Harry) and maybe Prof. McGonagall, Harry remains in the wizard world and stays at Hogswart as the new groundskeeper. OR - maybe Hagrid blocks Voldemorts death curse meant for Harry just like his mom did and this time Voldemort actually dies - because they destroyed all the horcruxes. And Harry becomes the youngest Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, ever. Well, as you can see, it was late at night and it was going round and round in my mind! Only 10 days left to find out what Rowlings has in store (and I bet it will all be a surprise!)..

Hi, Can't have an opinion about Snape as I'm rereading OOP again! Hope Harry doesn't die. I wonder if JK gave advance copies of #7 to the cast or are they wondering like the rest of us? Love all of the Weasely's especially the twins. I also read What will happen in Harry Potter 7, but have no opinions. Dumbledore's pet was a phoenix, and they do rise from ashes. One more opinion, I do not think the series encourages witchcraft. My nephew read it and he also read Chronicles of Narnia, loved both of them. I was a teacher when the first 4 books came out, and anything that encourages reading, is all right by me, So JKR, take a rest, and write another series.... Love Hermoine's aunt.

I think Harry will survive, and maybe JKR will continue with a spin-off series.
I also think that Ron and Hermione with become boyfriend/girlfriend and after Harry wins he will go back to dating Ginny.
I think for once the Weasley twins are going to be a part of the final fight.
Snape will survive I think and be sent to Azkaban. And maybe Bellatrix and Lucius will too.
These are just my guesses and soon I will be able to come back and see if i was right[unlikely] or even close.

Back to the Dumbledore idea:
He will def. be around in some form. He WAS a headmaster so his portrait is up on the wall in the headmaster's office (It even says in book 6 that he's snoring in his frame). Still, I don't know what that entails. Will his portrait offer advice like his real form would, or is the portrait just some regular enchantment that only does what it's told? I also think it (like the other portraits) must be able to move between any of Dumbledore's pictures. Does that include the chocolate frog cards? Id so, does that mean that Harry could carry Dumbledore in his pocket for help when he needs it?
I also think Dumbledore knew that Snape was going to kill him. In book 6 Hagrid was telling Harry that Dumbledore and Snape were arguing because Snape didn't want to do something. Dumbledore told Snape that he had to do it since he had made a promise.
Also, about Kreacher. I think he's staying at the house and working for Belatrix. He keeps disappearing and eventually turns up, but no one really knows where he went. Also, in book 5, Sirus says that Kreacher won't obey Tonks even though she's a part of the Black family. He says that he thinks that's because her name was burnt off of the family tree. If that's true, wouldn't Kreacher also not have to follow Sirus' orders since he was burnt off of the family tree too? So, my theory is that Belatrix is having Kreacher pretend that he is under the control of Harry (and in the past Sirus) in order to have him around the Order as a spy.

I am so hoping that she does not kill off Harry! I agree about the re-appearance of Dumbledore; he will probably still show up somehow...maybe as a Hogwart Spirit, or maybe in a vision(s) to Harry, and I think Voldemort will die. I guess we will soon find out; I can't wait to read it!

Yesterday I went to see the movie and I cried a little bit in a part of it...but it was because I was thinking that the story of the characters I have grown up with is ending on July 21. I just hope J.K. Rowling doesn't kill anyone of the trio, I would be devastated hehe.
P.S. If anyone is from Puerto Rico and is going to Borders of Plaza Las Americas to pick up the book at midnight tell me :)

I think Harry will be able to communicate with and get advice from Dumbledore via the chocolate frog card he got back in the first year, while he is destroying the remaining horcruxes.

I havent made up my mind whether Snape is good or bad, but im guessing good. I think the argument that snape and dumbledore had in HBP wasnt about entirely about having to kill dumbledore but having to return to Voldemort's services and pretend to be a death eater. I bet snape thinks with dumbledore dead no one will believe that he is good and no one will trust him. He will probably die saving harry or a member of the OotP and only then will people know dumbledore was right to trust snape.

I dont think Kreacher is working for Bellatrix (i think much like dobby in the 2nd book kreacher disappears to give Bellatrix information, but its never the full story since he is bound to Sirius, and now Harry). I think Kreacher is bound to serve the owner or the head of the Black house, and not the individual family members. The the reason why Kreacher doesnt take orders from Tonks, is because she is not the owner of the house.

No, Sirus actually tells Harry that Kreacher has to follow orders from anyone in the family. So, there isn't a reason that he shouldn't follow orders from Tonks. That's why Sirus thought it was because she was disowned.
I also wonder why Kreacher is able to speak badly about Harry and Sirus. Dobby couldn't speak badly about the Malfoys even though he hated them just as much as Kreacher hates Harry and Sirus. That's another reason I think he must be following someone else's orders.
The Snape argument could be about returning to Voldemort, but he already returned in book 5. I don't know why the argument would have been mentioned in book 6 then rather than the 5th book. It's also just a very small couple of lines. That's why I think it's relevant to the Snape death eater idea.
Anyway...I CAN'T WAIT TO READ BOOK 7!!!!

But, in book 5 he returned on dumbledores orders , however the return in book 6 (in the eyes of members of the OoP) would be seen as Snape has been a death eater all along. The members of the OoP have always questioned dumbledores trust of snape, and now with snape having killed dumbledore there is no reason for them to believe he is good.

Another thought - remember the mirror Sirius gave harry in book 5 for christmas - do you think it will be a way for Sirius to communicate with harry in book 7? I think the mirror will be important in the 7th book

Wow, you all have so many different theries on how this book will turn. Personally, I have thought on one level of the possiablity that Harry might be one of the 7 horcruxes. Everyone always tells him that he has a part of Voldemort inside him. Instead of having to kill himself or anything, i think there may be a way for him to live, like instead his magic is taken from him or something. Its a long shot I guess but, I just could see it as a possiablity.

I am going midnight party for Deathly Hallows. I am sleepover at a friends house that night, and I will not be sleeping. The only thing I'm nervous for? The fact that next week will be entirely slow, torturing my mind as I try to patiently wait for the last Potter Book.

I think that if Dumbledore has left some help behind for Harry that it will involves Fawkes, the phoenix, in some way. Fawkes came to Harry's aid before in the Chamber of Secrets.

I don't think it is that unlikely that RAB is Regulus... it wouldn't be a fun mystery if there weren't clues to figuring it out in the previous books.

Wow that is a neat idea that Harry is a Horcrux... but I don't think that can actually be possible... Voldemort seems way too intent upon killing Harry for Harry to actually be a horcrux.

Nevill DEFINITELY has something to do with it all, maybe he is even the one the prophecy is about. But I just saw the OOTP and I don't know if this is something I forgot, or if they made it up/added it for the movie: It says Voldemort wanted Harry to retrieve the prophecy because the only one who was able to retrieve the prophecy is the one that the prophecy is about... what I don't really understand about that is why, then, Voldemort wasn't also able to retrieve it, since it was also about him... but if it's true then I don't think the prophecy could be about Neville.

By the way, the movie was fun, but I think they left out too much trying to make it short...

Just a thought, If everyone remembers that the Potions book Harry is using inHBP is ALMOST 50 years old, and it belonged to Snape's mother, then at some point
Eileen Prince knew Tom Riddle (a.k.a. Lord V). Could he actually be Snape's father? Is that the understory we are supposed to look for? I think there is LOTS more to the Snape story than what we have been shown yet. I think the Locket, the Cup, Nagini, and the last horcrux whatever it is are hidden, as Marvolo's ring and the diary were, in the places that were connected with the deaths that tore Voldemort's soul. Except the locket, of course, Regulus hid it at Grimmauld Place. But the cup will be at the old woman's house or close by. The last horcrux will have to do with James and Lily. It will be at Godric's Hollow. And Snape is a good guy, just tortured by the sneaking suspicion that he is connected to Voldemort more closely than anyone ever dreamed. Think about it.

Thank you for pointing that out to me dd h. I just spaced I guess. I have to agree with you on the movie 5 too. They are just cutting so much from this book. Like with Neville, I think there is so much more with him then the movies are playing out. The books show his character and the bond he has with Hermionie and Ron too, not just with Harry. Ginny is another character that should have been played a little more because of what we see happening in book six. With Cho, it made a little sense the way they did the whole those two wont be together thing but the movie just made it easier to forgive Cho because she was 'potioned'. (Sorry for those who haven't seen the movie yet.) If they are worried about the timing of the movie and budget, could it be easier to just break this book into two movies? As hard as that is to say, it is just hard to put connections in with some things. Like no Dobby? Why? He just is one true friend that shows Harry great loyalty and proves it over and over. It's sad that they haven't included him.

oh.. and the reason why Voldemort doesn't get the prophicy is explained by Mr. Malfoy in the book, telling Harry and his friends that why should the dark lord walk into the minestry when people didn't believe that he was back or something like that. ^_^

Reyna- I have a theory that this RAB person is part of the Black family, and that one of the horcruxes is at 12 Grimmauld Place...? This may have already been discussed?

I feel like killing Harry in the end is a terrible idea, of course! I've heard that in places they're setting up grief counselors for children. (!) I think it would just make James' & Lilly's sacrifice pointless if Voldemort just kills him anyway!

Well to me, Regulus Black could be the one who stole the locket it wasn't like his body was ever found. One of the things I hope most is that Snape is truly a good guy and he just did what he did because he didn't have a choice. Maybe he'll die at the end saving harry or wormtail will. It's not like Wormtail has fullfilled his lifedebt to Harry. Well, Voldemort has to die. I don't like the thought but everytime that I think of Wormtail's silver hand I think that Moony is going to die at the end. Hagrid might die, he was Harry's first friend. I'm waiting excitedly and terrified for the final book because I know that the book will be great even with many loses for sure but it's the final book so there will not be any others. :(

I don't know how jkr could kill off voldemort without making harry a killer. and i don't think dumbledore would have ever wanted that for harry. after all that is one of the things that makes voldemort so evil. and what does killing have to do with love? after all dumbledore said the biggest most important differance between vodemort and harry is that harry can love.

Yes but at the same time, Dumbledore did say yes to when Harry asked if they had to kill the other in order to live. As much as Dumbledore cares for Harry, he has known the prophacy even before Harry's family was killed. I think Dumbledore had points in showing this. He even brought Harry along with him in the 6th, and teaches Harry the past of his enemy. I think when learning the past you know you wont make the same mistakes for the future. Harry in the fith one has such a vilant reaction to being connected to Voldemort and I think learning the dark lords past will aide Harry by far, after all isn't it just Dumbledore, Harry and Voldemort the only ones who know his story?

Hey, you guys at the Ann Arbor Downtown Borders-- why will your Grand Hallows Ball be the best party? We know that whatever J. K. Rowling has in store for us will be great, but what about you guys? Just want to know...

As for Snape, I always want to know more about him. The movies have not done the Snape we know from the books justice (maybe when I see OotP I will be happy) but I think he has always been dancing on a fine line with Voldemort. We have assumed that he was a death eater at some point, because V. believed him to be, but even in GoF old V. showed some doubts, right? So has Snape always been with Dumbledore, from day one? Has he been braver than we all knew, even from Lily and James's deaths? We only saw one scene of Snape's youth, when he hurt Lily's feelings and was ridiculed by James and his pals. There were probably many more moments that showed Snape's friendship with Lily, otherwise she could not have been so hurt. At any rate, Rowling will definitely make this all clear.

Carrie, in book six we find out for sure that snape was a voldemort death eater because he was the one who heared the beginning of the prophecy at hog's head when professor trawley was being interviewed by dumbledore. I do agree with you on the point of snape and the movies. they do no justice to a lot of the characters. makes me very sad.

i think the same way that smitty, that dumbledore and snape had a deal if anything went wrong snape had to kill him, remember that when harry and dumbledore were heading to the castle dumbledore said to harry that was snape who he needed. Also i think that Rab is regulus black. I also think that dumbledore is not completly dead, because if he was, his picture would appear in his office with the oder dead head masters dont you think?....
i also think that one of the characters that are going to die y this book is gonna be hagrid. and snape is going to protec harry from voldemort now.

I also have thought since the moment I read then note signed RA.B. that it was Sirus' brother Regulus, and the locket was the one thy found in OotP pg 116.

I think Snape will be a good guy in the end. I just have a good feeing about him and he has saved Harry to many times for him to be bad.

Also as to the pheonix and DD..... What IF... somehow the pheonix could revive DD much lik it's own power to do for itself OR DD figured how to tap into that power. So Jk would be telling the truth about him being dead, then DD would be "reborn" snape would have to make him an aging potion and then we could have a YOUNG and vital DD helping Harry fight LV. just a crazy brainstorm on my part, but I like it.

I hate to think of who will die but.. Hagrid would be a tragic loss, I'd rather it was just the Death Eaters and L.V. maybe Percy but it will probably be one of the Weasleys, Molly would be the ironic but likley choice.

Also I think Harry will live .. become an auror to hunt down all the death eaters then go on to be D.A.D.A teacher and eventually a headmaster at Hogwarts. He will also get together w/Ginney, and Ron and Hermoinie. Thats how I would end this series.

i think that the fact that JKR told us that two main characters are going to die in this last book pretty much means that both Harry and LV will be leaving the world of magic forever! i also think that there will be a huge fight at the end of book 7 and that the Order will take on all the death eaters and win! but my hypothysis is that harry and LV will will be fighting a one-on-one duel and both will proform the killing curse at the same time and both will die immediatly! then everyone will cry but the good guys win so the book will be over!

Wow, haven't been here for like two days and cool ideas are pouring in as we reach closer to our harry potter date. crazy. I think Nevile and Snape are going to die. Somehow in the fith one Nevile was really put up to Harry's level you know? He is one who escaped the prophecy and I think JK is going to do something with that. I don't think Hermione or Ron will die. JK has made the two battle it out so hard and with the sixth one she really started to hit the mark. The 7th will just be the final key to it. Ginney is a character that just makes me confused. She has really been put on the spot with Harry and from book two they have a real connection. Cho I don't think will really be invovled to much. Harry doesn't want anyone close to him hurt. What scares me though is not returning to Hogwarts. Harry tells her friends that even if the do keep the school open, he won't be coming back. What is a Harry Potter book without the mystery school in it?

My theory is that Harry will discover that he is, himself, a Horcrux...he will have to sacrifice himself in order to make Voldemort vulnerable enough for someone else to step in and kill him. I think one of Harry's friends, or a member of the Order will finish him off.

maybe dumbledore just pretended to die? or...polyjuice potion seems to come up a lot in these books, so maybe some other death eater took snape's form and killed dumbledore? i don't know, i have to re-read the sixth book so i can really pay attention to all of the hints. i think that dumbledore is a horcrux, which is why it was so important that he be killed. i agree that dumbledore is way too powerful to be unwillingly killed by snape.

I don't believe Harry is a horcrux in the since that he has Voldemont's whole sole inside him. I think the part of the sole Voldemont was going to make a horcrux with ripped apart when Voldemont did and some of the power from the sole went into Harry. I also believe Harry will not have to die himself to kill Voldemont. I think the love inside Harry will be to great for Voldemont to take just as the hate is to much for Harry, because he burns when he feels Voldemont's hate.

I feel like I need to write my thoughts down on all this somewhere, so here goes. I believe that whatever happened to Harry and Voldemort when Harry's parents die was a trap for Voldemort, and Dumbledore and the Potter's knew it. I don't think they all knew the Potter's were sacrificing their life, but that they were trying to injure Voldemort in a very real way. It might be that whatever happened forced Harry to become one Horcrux too many, weakening Voldemort too much. I believe RAB is Regulus Black, and that he is likely dead, though the thought of him being an animagus (seen above) is intriguing. I believe Dumbledore lives on in some way, and perhaps as some joked, in a sort of Obi WAn/Luke Skywalker kind of way. Perhaps Harry can go to the ARch in the Ministry of Magic and talk to Sirius and Dumbledore. There is still something mysterious and unsolved about Sirius's "disappearance" when he died, and the voiced beyond the veiled arch. Dumbledore knew exactly what he was doing when he had, as planned, Snape "kill" him.
Somebody told me today that J.K. Rowling says two major characters die. I don't know if Voldemort counts, but of course, he is dead at the end of book 7. Harry? I predict that if Harry is dead, so is Ginny. Will it take an act of limitless love to kill Voldemort, as it took to seriously wound him 16 some years ago? Snape will die. It might not be until he dies that Harry finally realizes that Snape is on the side of good. I think the whole story will come down to if and when Harry finally trusts Snape. Neville is another good candidate for death here. Either that or he finishes off Voldemort after Harry's supreme sacrifice. Finally, if Harry does find a way to contact Dumbledore, he will also be able to communicate with Sirius, and his parents.

I'm both excited and saddened by the final installment of the Harry Potter series. I have been a fan of the series since I was about 12, 13 years old. I'm now 21. (Nearly 22.) The series has kept my interest all these years because J.K. Rowling continued to grow and develope the characters. They faced typical teenager problems and of course their more exciting wizard world type problems. She's added a colorful lively bunch to the series. She worked them in well. I honestly love each and every character. Each book was a treasure of its own. But together...They are just amazing.

J.K. has got a generation reading again! No small feat! The way her books were written seems as if she tried to raise the bar each time. Vocabulary wise. Also her books go deeper then most realized. She did a lot of research for the books it seems. Kappas, Sphinixes. They appear in mythology. Though she's also but her own spin on certain things which is nice.

So after all these years I am happy to finally reach the end of the Harry/Lord Voldemort situation but at the same time its heartbreaking. Yes all good things must come to an end. Yes J.K. can't keep going with this series. Yes she has given us 6, soon to be 7 amazing books! Which have in turn given us movies, toys, candy, games and soon an amusement park! But I still can't help but to be saddened. Its like losing friends, or a part of your childhood. I know it sounds geeky. I know I am being over emotional, but I can't help it. I've come to love Harry and Voldemort. (Yes you've read right! I love Voldemort!)

I believe Harry and Voldemort will both die. I believe Snape will also and for some reason I believe Draco will see the error of his ways. (If he doesn't die.) I believe this will be a remarkable end to something that has been so awaited! I think this ending will leave your head spinning though you will probably still be teary eyed. (I for one will probably be teary eyed from start to finish!)

This is also the first Potter party I will be attending and I think that since its the last Party ever, this one will be really special. Over all I just want to say no matter what happens I love the series! I'm proud to have been a fan of the series and thank you J.K. Rowling for the wonderful gift you have given the world!

I know who R.A.B is. It's Sirius's brother, Regulis Black!

Portraits have the ability to speak but photos do not. The problem with Harry being a horcrux is that; 1 when the AK spell cast on Harry rebounded onto LV, LV was left as a disembodied spirit without the ability to use a wand or say spells.2 the spell to create the horcrux would have to have been cast AFTER Harry was killed.
LV would not have wanted to create a horcrux until all of the Potters were dead so it is unlikely that the spell was cast at all that night. Since the rebounded spell devastated LV and created the scar on Harry's forehead it is also unlikely that the scar is a horcrux. Hope this makes sense to those of you who are still confused.

everyone is saying that Griffendores swrod is a horcrux, but i'm not entirely sure. then again if LV did get a horcrux from Griffendore, it's the only posibility that i can think of. and there isn't an object to represent Ravenclaw eathier. so LV might not even have horcruxs for the other two houses. but why then have them for just Slitheryn, and Hufulpuff?

Katie, LV is the heir of Slytherin, his mother wore the necklace passed down though the family. When she die she left for him. The Hufflepuff cup was probably at the school and he came across it somehow. The sword, I don't think is a horcrux because Harry just attained for the school 50 later.

uhmmm the Hufflepuff cup was from that old lady he killed. In the memory.. it wasnt from him coming across it in school. Voldemort got lucky and learned about it and B&B. And thanks Gail :-) that clears the picture thing up for me. I have a theory that the invisability cloak may perhaps be Godric Gryffendor's. OR another crazy idea that popped into my head: Ravenclaw.. he was the one that was smart so he invented the invisability cloak and Voldemort discovered this making it a horcrux. (Rowling did tell us the invisability cloak and why dumbldore has it is crucial.)

Im not sure. Just my crazy brain dreaming up ideas at 1:00 in the morning :-P
