Scherenschnitte art

Scherenschnitte is a German word for cutting out silhouettes.

I am a silhouette/scherenschnitte artist. I worked as a silhouette artist at Walt Disney World. I left, as I wanted to be more creative, then doing portriats day after day. I have a passion for it. There are only about 100 of us left in the whole world. I also enjoy painting landscapes and animal characters.

I have a website and 3 stores of my work. My art has been displayed in a lot of galleries time to time. I also have them on line in a gallery in Isreal, by invitation. And Scottsdale, Az.

This artform is so wonderful to be able to do. I once thought I would like to give it a try but gave up quickly. I do not have the patience for this work. You are lucky to have such a wonderful gift Margieanne.

Thank you Sarina. The day I saw it, I fell in love with it. I just love to cut away as my mind leads me. Especially the very tiny detailed work. But I cannot us anyone's patterns, I must do it all freehand and on my own. Most Americans do not know of this art, except in the south east or north east. Most English people are more familiar with it, or Europe. Did you ever know of it?

I just checked out your website...your work is so lovely! When I visited a friend at her parents' house a few years ago, they had sillouettes of both of their daughters as children framed and proudly displayed in their living room. I'm not sure where they got them, but I remember being so intrigued.

Thank you for looking at my website and your sweet compliment. They are collector items now. I worked at Walt Disney World as one of their silhouette artists. It is about the only place left to get the portrait done, unless someone knows a silhouette artist. There are only about 100 left in the world. On my homepage, I have a video that shows me cutting, if you would like to see how it is done. It's kinda cool to see.

I'm completely Mesmerized. People with your type of talent always amaze me. I write poetry. That's pretty much where my only talent lies. But I love it and I have a passion for as you say. I wanted to stop in get to know you a bit better and say thank you for your comment on my poem. You know there's a group called art ambrosia@artambrosia.gather.com whose focus is to bring together all different art forms into one forum. I'm sure they'd love to have you. You should check it out.

One is art, ( your poetry would be great there), God, pets, and exchanging recipes. I am new, and still trying to figure out how to find and do things here. You are an artist at heart...your work is breath taking...I know I would be holding my breath if I was using scissors and making such detailed cuts. Do you draw on the paper where the cuts are ...?
