LISTEN !

AT THIS VERY SECOND......WHAT DO YOU HEAR?

I am at work and this is what I hear:  Tim Mcgraw singing Over and Over again on my desk radio and I hear two guys out in the warehouse joking with each other and laughing and my boss is on speaker phone with a phone call to his boss.

i hear the tv going, the toilet running, the computer thinking, the dogs whining, the husband on the cell phone going blah blah blah blah blah, and my fingers typing and a million other things running through my head wondering if i have gotten everything done :)

I hear the kettle whistling as my daughter is making me some coffee as I don't feel well today. Her friend who stayed over last night is giggling over a book she is reading and there is some music coming from my daughters bedroom, she left her itunes on her computer running.
I hear the computer. I just heard an airplane fly overhead, much lower than usual

Radio..don't know the song. Gas bubbling ...I'm in a lab and it is for a test being performed, co-workers keyboard, A/C and nalgene bottles on the lab bench.
Try this, put in earplugs. I did this while gardening the other day because there is this baby woodpecker.."erant, erant, erant" that is NON STOP repetative...it was driving me nuts. I put in earplugs and I could hear myself breathing and I couldn't believe how heavy my footsteps sounded.

Right now I hear the blue jays screeching outside my open window, and the stereo playing blues in the living room upstairs. Just moments ago I heard the clapping of the soles of a pair of shoes as the next-door neighbor cleaned them off before heading inside.

Good exercise Tracey. It helped me realize the wonder of the sounds that are a regular presense in our lives.

I hear a song on my portable radio, while I am in the office, it is the Righteous Brothers "you've lost that loving feeling" I then hear music coming from my mouth singing the same exact words. Then I hear the words "Shut up, Joe you can't sing!!" But of course I can that is what I am doing. Well, I'll give them a five minute break!!!

I hear the construction going on down the road. They are putting in sewer lines. In between the sounds of digging I hear the birds chirping in the trees.

I hear my son playing with his toys, in between him fussing because he wants to be held. The clicking of the keys, my computers fan running, and a low rumble of distant traffic. Every now and then I hear the chirp of my smoke detector - I need to replace the battery. Otherwise, it is very quite here today. Yea!

I hear the sound of morning coffee on the brew, the irritating "hunt and peck" method of my own typing, the low hum of dual cooling fans in the PC tower, the resounding clatter of a cat attempting to vault up to the kitchen counter and failing, my son, daughter and wife, still in bed, snoozing the morning away, and lastly the silent sound of my brain peeling lines of VBscript as part of my addiction to learning the language.
