Roosevelt Sims has been rushed to a Flagstaff, Arizona hospital for emergency treatment for dehydration and diabetic shock after being found wandering through a national forest near Williams, Arizona.
The 65 year-old St. Louis man, newly retired, was en route to Los Angeles, and suffers from diabetes. He was evicted from an Amtrak train because, according to Amtrak personnel, he was drunk and "unruly." It is Amtrak policy to eject unruly passengers.
In its Thursday, June 28 statement. Amtrak claimed: “The conductor and the passenger waited on the platform with the passenger's luggage. Upon arrival of authorities, the passenger fled into nearby woods.”
Police officers searching the scene, an abandoned railroad crossing, found Sims' luggage and medication.
Concern was expressed by Sims' family about the conduct of Amtrak officials because of Sims' diabetic condition. Symptoms of insulin reaction and diabetic shock can mimic drunkenness.

So I don't think this is an isolated event. My experience was on an Amtrak train from San Jose California to Glendale, California. It was three years ago. You'd think they'd learn.
