A boy had a dream ~ anatomy of a face painting ~ a photo essay featuring the work of Kryistina Rite (http://whimspiration.gather.com/)

There once was a boy who dreamed of a noble lion. This noble lion was his hero and the boy wanted all things in his life to have the symbol of the lion.
The boy found the spirit of the noble lion in many things, in people, in his kitty cat at home, in ideas, in books and movies. Alas, the symbol was hard to find.

One day the boy found the symbol on a hat.

He wore the hat everywhere, even to summer camp.

But he longed for more. He had a secret wish that this noble lion could be painted on his face.

One day he went to a birthday party for his friend pirateladybug. Pirateladybug’s mom got out her face paints for a friend who asked her to paint her before she went to work.


Z (who is the boy with the dream of a noble lion) came to me and asked, “Do you think she’d paint my face too?”
I said, “Of course! She’s going to paint all the party people who want to be painted as a celebration of pirateladybug’s birthday!”

People walking by had noticed the face-painting and gathered to watch and asked to be painted too. Z got in the back of the line and waited patiently, hoping that K could give
him his heart’s desire, his dream of the noble lion painted on his face. It is the only thing
he had wanted painted on his face for months but he didn’t think anyone could do it – so he hadn’t asked.

Finally it was his turn and he told K his dream. He gave her his hat to see the picture of that noble lion and K said, “Yes, I can do it!”

The lion has arrived!

And so the dream was fulfilled!
