It's six thirty in the morning and I am at work. At times when I am in this early, I am the only one here. We are on the 19th floor and it's dark outside. Almost like night except for a distinct smell that feels like morning.
I sit next to a window. A great view of the city from here. During the day a few too many tall buildings get in the way of the harbour view. But now, all that is visible are lights gleaming like stars below. On the motor way car headlights shimmer like a garland of floating candles.
Many times just before turning the lights on I thought to myself that one day I will not turn them on. I will sit in the dark and admire the view outside. Today is that day. This floor is completely dark except for the tiny green light on the EXIT sign and the soft light from the monitor. It's peaceful and I am content to just sit and wait...

It was a nice way to start a day, as yours seems to have been also.
Hope you have a good day.
Bill, isn't it amazing how the smell of one morning brings back memories of so many more? Often times like this feel surreal to me and connect with myself in so many different ways.. Thanks so much for your comment!
Sounds like a wonderful view from your desk!
