Well if you know me, you know I had to see this one!! I went with my friend to see this paranormal movie written/based by Stephen King.

John Cusack was great, he did a very good job as Mike Enslin - a paranormal investigator/writer, who after spending many nights in "haunted" hotels- does not believe anymore. All these hotels claim to have hauntings, but when he gets there...nothing happens. 

One day he gets a postcard telling him not to stay at the Dophin Hotel in Manhattan in room 1408..being an investigator..he has to. The ending has a slight twist to it, as to who sent that card(they never say it, but it is not hard).

This movie had me covering my eyes, if I went into a place like that I would probably never go into a haunted place again! Thumbs up!

He was looking kinda good in this one!!
Your a gutsy one. I am probably going to go see it myself but the previews freak me out a little. I'm glad to hear that it stood up to your expectations.

Trista, if people like us can go sit in haunted rooms..we can see these movies!!!..then those haunted rooms don't look so bad!

Ok Donna, I know I have not been on Gather as much as I have been in the past, life keeping me to busy, but glad to see your articles and this review is what I needed to further my excitement to go see it this weekend. I'm a big Stephen King fan, love suspensful fiction, which you already know about me, and think John Cusak is a great actor. I've been following him since "Better off Dead." I wondered about this movie. Maybe I'll wait to see it on DVD in the privacy of my own home. That way if I scream I won't be too embarassed. Looks great though. I got goosebumps just thinking about it. LOL

You know, I'm leaving on vacation Saturday and will be staying in a couple of haunted rooms next week. As I matter of fact, I took the "Happy Haunting" package offered by the Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City.

I'm interested in 1408, but King's interpretation of ghosts has always been a little too fantastic for me. The Sixth Sense and Stir of Echoes was much more to my liking than The Shining.

True Adrienne, his hauntings are more dramatic and demonic..in real life it is more of the ones you mentioned... Have fun on your trip, I too am off in a week to St Augustine and Orlando myself...

Blue it is a good movie, I feel bad..my friend was supposed to see it yesterday but he got sick and can't go!
