Does that mean you get to stay stateside? My husband works for the Canadian National RR. He repairs train engines.. So you fix smaller engines than he, but probably just as frustrating at times
Oh, I wish it was a stateside guarantee, but there aren't very many positions in the military that allow that. Yes, the engines I work on are much smaller I'm sure, but indeed they can be frustrating. What's more frustrating is not the engines, but not having money to fix them.

That's good, a Friend of mine has a daugher in Iraq. May get to come home in Nov. then she willl retire after 20 years. Her husband is home now.. for awhile her grandkids stayed with her

My husband began working for the RR when he was 17, just out of HS. It's the closest we will get to a family business. His dad, Uncle, cousin and brother all work or have worked for the RR.
What is it about the RR that is so fascintating? I work with children ages birth to 3 in the early intervention program and most of the boys love trains, fire engines and trucks. air planes are okay but not a neat as trains,
I'm not sure what it is about RR that fascinates so. My 2 year old son loves trains too. I have a love of fire engines too. My father was a career firefighter, and I have volunteered too.
David, Hi from Dallas, Texas. Its rainy here today as it has been for the past couple of weeks in this area and are expecting more rain the rest of the week.

One of my uncle volunteered, the other was a fire fighter and a mortician (what a combo) My dad was a police officer, chief of police in a mid sized town and then an arson investigator for the state.

David: I'm a counselor. I work will families who have a child with a developmental delay. the family may need assistance to help cope with the child's needs, the child may need assistance to engage in appropriate behaviors, some of the children are DCFS placements who have never bonded with anyone
The children may have a diagnosis or not. My job is not to diagnosis, but to help the family stay a family, have the resources they need and help the identified child function as well as possible in spite of what else may be happening

We're having BLT's very hot and humid here in IL
It's very hot and humid here in NC too. I'm originally from IL myself.
My family...well, it's not fun, but compared with many civilian options, the military compensates pretty well for those with families.
William, I tried working outside too, but it was getting awful warm and thunderstorms have been threatening.
We had a good chance for rain according to the forecast, David, but the sun has not quit shining yet.
