I've found the best way is just rolling up your sleeves and start pulling. I have one of these and it does make it go faster:

Unfortunately most chemicals would kill your plants, also. I have tons of areas, also. I just manually pull them out. I work a little each day. It's easier to do after a rain or water them down first.

Sometimes we pay the kids a penny for every weed they pull. Makes gardening fun for them.

I recently heard that if you put wet newspaper down in your flower bed, that weeds will not grow through. I haven't had a chance to test it out, but maybe it will help you :)

next spring before everything comes up lay down some garden weed barrier to prevent the weeds from showing. As for this year, well you can either buy some weed killer and start spraying your heart out or get on those hands and knees and start pulling!!
I told my husband Im going to grow a weed garden one of these days! :)

My solution a bottle of weed killer and a big container that you press air in, and then blast the pests away, I put a little extra of the weed killer into the container and spray a little more. I'm sure not going to get down and pick them up individually. Except for the ones that are going to become trees then I rip them out immediately

Please pick what you can manually instead of blasting away with weed killer. We already have way too many chemicals in the environment and they don't just damage weeds - they also damage your other plants, birds, butterflys, and beneficial insects.

I'm with Judith. It's only a weed if you want it to be!! lol I don't EVER use chemicals outside, either. So bad for the environment!!! And I have a well, too. Who knows what might make it's way into my water.
Tackle one area at a time, and then go back and do a little each day to keep up.

Please don't use a weed killer. Our environment is already too full of them! I have a good quick one for dandelions and it works every time! Boil a tea kettle of water and when it is boiling pour it straight over the dandelion and it will kill the root and the whole thing will be dead in 24 hours. I swear it works!

I agree with another person... grab a couple of kids (best age is 8-10 years old) and offer them a penny per weed.... Job will be done in good time hehe

Oh I feel for you..I hate pulling weeds. Make sure you wear gloves when you pull them. I do know they have a tool. I can't tell you what it is called. But basiclly you place it over the weed. press down and twist. It rips it right up. You can find them in hardware stores and places like lowe's and home depot sells them. Just go in and ask the people in the flower department of any handy tools you can buy to get rid of weeds. This tool is real easy to use.
