Photo Points? How do they work?

I'll admit it- I've been largely MIA for a bit now. While I usually know what is going on, I missed the announcement about the photo's for 10 points thing.

Can someone explain it to me? When are the points awarded? When does it end? Etc, etc?

I don't know if I've got this completely correct, but each photo posted by June 30 is automatically awarded 10 Gather points. They are all tallied on Monday morning. There is also a contest for the winner of the most 10 ratings. Winner receives a $20 gift card, and best comment also receives the same gift card.

I can't explain it, I don't even know if the group is offering Gather Points, or rating points, or just trying to get a lot of photos posted to a site to give the owner Gather Points. But I have been having fun putting Good, Bad, and indifferent images into the group.
