Political Corruption and TRUE Bureaucrats

your anger is either misdirected, or you have misunderstood what a Bureaucrat is. First off there are about 22 million bureaucrats in the USA. They generally are the people who handle the chore of keeping government from being defrauded, and enforcing law and code. For Example, the National Transportation Safety Board is a Bureaucracy. Their task is to assure that cars sold in the USA meet safety standards. They don't set the standards, Congress does. The Bureaucrats who work for the Welfare department are charged with reviewing and verifying applications for Assistance. I think the issue you are addressing is the Administrators. People in the catagory of Alberto Gonzales, and the US attorneys who serve at the whim of the President, Governor, County Commission of City Council. They are Political, they do administer policy as set down by elected officials. And they along with the people who appoint them are the ones who set the agenda of the bureaucracy. That is the MAJOR reason people need to be careful, and well informed before they elect Governors, Mayors, City Council members and Presidents.

Your point is well taken, Karl. Thank you. You are indeed right. There are many and GOOD bureaucrats. I guess it is the (capital letter) Bureaucrats who set me off. Maybe those not unlike the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus' time. The definition I offer perhaps identifies the type of Bureaucrat I'm talking about. I am I think among a growing(?) number who are mortified by official pretenses, by what's happened to the Presidency, the Congress (and to churches) in their inability to discern and commit to real public interests, needs, not the Party's, not their preferred institutional interests, and certainly not their myopic "faith" ideologies.
