Brenton Point in Newport is where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. There's a state park there, with a memorial to the Potuguese explorers (there's a large Portuguese population in the area) and a memorial to those lost at sea (including an obelisk commemorating the passengers of the Egyptian Air jet that went down in Long Island Sound, just SW of here). But mostly there are rolling meadows with picnic tables and such, and in the summer the park is taken over by kite flyers because the area is great for breezes.
Today was a postcard-perfect day - sunny, warm but not hot, and a great breeze. And the kites were up and flying. I'm not going to say anything more; the kites will speak for themselves!
