Sleeping Anole On A Leaf
Kauai (c)07 Daddario
This is one of those shots that I wanted to combine image with words. I came up with these three haiku:
Gently close my eyes
Sweet daydreaming near the edge
Life in paradise
Close my eyes to rest
Gently sway me on a leaf
Life in paradise
Once in paradise
Gently swaying on a leaf
Complete in daydreams
However something about the image wouldn't allow me to add any of them to the photograph. I prefer it as it is.

I like all of them, but I like the last the most.
I love the image. So green.......

GREAT SHOT!
thanks Angela - i like the haiku form.
thanks Michele - that was my feeling with the image too. i couldnt resist including the haiku with the article but i didnt feel like the image gained with any one of them being IN the photo. that doesnt usually happen - but then... what is ever usual?
thank you Carol - anoles are very similar to geckos - both are postive creatures - particularly in insect control. i tend to find more anoles outside and more geckos inside - i'm not sure why it works that way but here it's good to have both.
thanks Nikolas - i like each for distinct reasons.
thanks Sue - i like that each haiku has a slightly different focus - and that each reaches people in different ways. cool.
oh! cool Kyra - thank you. i too like anoles. i often have to stop and watch them. they get to know my patterns and can feel comfortable around me sometimes - altho this one is in Kauai i have plenty around where i live too.
oh, thank you Amy - i think i felt that ease when i saw how comfortable this anole was on that leaf. sometimes a glimpse in life captures me and takes me beyond that moment. i think this moment takes me into that contentment you speak of. cool.
Thank you Susan - yes, sometimes it's hard to get at an image even with those 1,000 words. i can see how he looks like he's ready to spring. i suspect that's what he was doing there (hunting food) but the relaxation just eased him into sleep. he was definitely sleeping. you may be able to see it better in the larger photo. i also have a nice shot of him waking up from a different angle. cool on your haiku. i like it when something i do inspires something in someone else. that's magic.
