Should we believe our senators will really secure our borders. No, We shouldn't believe them. Consider the fact that Kennedy has been lying to the American people for 40 years ( Kennedy ).
They were counting on us being so caught up with Paris Hilton and the last episode of the Sopranos - that we surprised them by actually paying attention to what they were doing.
Yet, many Americans still couldn't tell you how their senators voted on the amendments or the bill. (Voting Record)
Now, they act as if we're mean spirited and simple headed to ask them to enforce laws that they created. Illegal immigrants can expect to be deported and/or arrested. We didn't create that law. Our legislators did. But, they say it's too costly to enforce. Is it (Cost To Deport)? If it is, why did they suggest it. We didn't pull these ideas from thin air. These penalties were their suggestions for solving the problems when they created these laws. Of course, it's a nightmarish suggestion. We weren't supposed to have to do 12 million deportations at once. Duh.
Apparently, it sounded like a good idea when they created the law. But, now they've decided it's a bad idea. I think expecting me to pay taxes is a bad idea. I wish they would change their mind about that one. Some of them also think the idea of a fence is bad. Shocker. We wouldn't have had to consider a fence, had they been enforcing the laws.
This is their mess. If they had been enforcing the laws for the last 40 years. We wouldn't be facing this problem today. And, yes some of these people have been in office that long. But, they know because they haven't been enforcing the law - the "law enforcement" scenario is bleak indeed.
Now, enforcing the law would mean images of people crying in the streets as their family members are deported. Not a pretty sight. And, I don't like the idea of it. Congress can smell the end of careers as the masses cry out. But, I've got news for you. They aren't asking for amnesty for illegal aliens - or even for companies. They want us to bail them out (senators). This is really amnesty for lazy senators. You see - if they ever really cracked down and started to deport illegal immigrants, fine and arrest employers who break the law, things would start to look really ugly in America.
So, their solution. Let all the illegal immigrants become American citizens. They promise they'll pay closer attention to our borders next time. Yes, they know there will be a mass run on the borders when the word gets out that America is doing the amnesty thing again. But, pretty please. Don't make them actually do their jobs. And, as soon as they pass the law - they'll pretend that the enforcement benchmarks have been met - make everyone a citizen, and go back to life as usual. Earmarks, expensive flights, and long vacations. And, we'll have to face this same problem 10 years from now.
Well, I say we really get tough. Throw the bums (senators) out.
Fire them. It's what we do for all lazy employees. And, as for new presidential candidates, don't let another democratic or republican president into the white house who acknowledges that he has no plan to protect our borders or the American workers.I have an idea for a new law. Let's make it illegal for the senate or the President to pass a law and not enforce it. What should the penalty be for breaking that law? They share as much or more of the blame for the problem of illegal immigration.
