how does an ordinary egg
go from this

to this? (notice my son's hands are actually
squeezing the egg and it remains intact?!)

easy! with a WHOLE lot of patience....and the help
of some vinegar.
take a raw egg and place it in a small glass. fill the
glass with vinegar so that the egg is completely
covered. you should automatically start to see a
reaction as bubbles begin to form on the egg's
shell. put the glass in a safe place and wait, wait,
WAIT! in about 7-9 days check the egg.
the vinegar will have dissolved the egg's shell so
that only the egg's membrane and yolk remain.
rinse the egg and carefully examine the remains.
the membrane is quite tough but dont squeeze
too hard! your kids will think how cool it is that
they can actually see the yolk through the skin.
you will too! enjoy!

you will have to check on the egg during the experiment to keep it covered with the vinegar.
