My daugher shows me the newspaper headline

"the golden dome has been destroyed"

were we not just there

last year to see the wailing wall ?

I stop and think and realize

how strange that there is no possibilty 

of any mosque to be destroyed on Jewish land

since there is heavy security.

No, i tell her, it is not that one 

not that golden shrine to God that has been 

blown away 

but somewhere else unsafe .

Security no longer seems to me 

some infinite force that hides behind clouds

or an institution of devotion 

but those young handsome men 

that serve three years in the army 

and guard the institutions

that claim a connection to God.

I feel a circle closing in my life

returning to that  tenderness 

in the arms of a young soldier

that years  ago  i had  found.

I wonder how i shall ever feel safe

or make the ones depending on me 

feel at peace

Perhaps the answer to security 

is love.
