In my tiny New Mexican town, the sun splays my shadow against caked earth. We're getting more rain than usual, but the ground still remembers the drought, pulls the rain from the clouds, yanks it deep beneath parched soil. In the high desert, summer is our time to hibernate.
What's summer like in your town? Post your stories of summer in today's Writing Essentials Group.
This morning, I am featuring two wonderful pieces:
Priceless by DawnSelena MK
Have you ever spent a summer deconstructing a loved one's life? DawnSelena posts a short story about finding what's important in the rush to divide and conquer property after a death.
Summer Lilacs by Tracey W.
Tracey's gentle poem has some wonderful imagery: "...the sun
eats the sky by degrees"
Tune in this late afternoon for my evening Don't Miss Picks!

And I loved Summer Lilacs.
I've been gone all day, celebrating my birthday with friends. I will have to wait until tomorrow to check out the articles you mentioned here and in the Evening issue, also... I just wanted to take time to say how wonderful to see this, your first editorial work on the Thursday Gather Writing Essentials.
Happy birthday to a new forum! :-)
