Just wondering, because this is mine.
Silently, softly, I have crept through the halls of Gather to get a feel. I came here as part of my job as a Marketing Specialist for a web design firm.
It didn't take long to realize that Gather was not like Digg. Not even close.
More on that later. For now, I just wanted to ask, "How many introduction to the Gather world articles are published every day, in your estimation?"
I also want to know if you really read them if they're long or do you just say "Hi" or "Welcome" or nothing at all.
THANKS!!!

How many articles say "First post" or "I'm new here"? Tough question, since many such articles are jokes, created by alternate identities for either spoof or malice. I used to greet the newbies I noticed, but I don't log in as often as I used to, and I usually limit myself to my own little network.
I'd be interested to know what "Digg" is, if you care to elaborate some day. I've never explored it, even though Gather includes some sort of link to it.
Rumor has it that longer articles are not often read. I believe that isn't a fair statement. If the font is small, reading a long article on a computer monitor is not an enjoyable experience, so it is more a problem with legibility than length, at least for me.
If an article is well-written, I will read it from start to finish. An example might be found on La Lady Lisa Westerfield's namespace. She tends to write longer articles, but I want to read them because they are enjoyable.
A badly written article is simply not worth reading, regardless of length.
