Canine Names (or If My Dog Weren't Sonny)

It occurred to me last night that just like human names, dog names also have cycles. You know how Gertrude, Horace, Hazel or Virgil aren’t right up there in the top 20 names for babies anymore? Well, how many dogs have you encountered named Fido, Spot, Rover or Spike?

I know that Max is very popular but I wrote an article called “My Rat Terrier Sonny" and mentioned that I had thoughts of calling him “Ivan the Terrier”, Illya (as in Kuryakin – “The Man From Uncle”) or Misha because I seem to have a fetish for Slavic names.

My proposal is for everyone to come up with interesting and different pet names that we might not ordinarily have thought of. Let’s be creative!

Well, I adopted a Jack Russell who already had his name which was Lancelot which then I began calling him Sir Lancelot. When we got a female pup a year later, we named her Lady Guenivere (Gwen for short)
