Well it appears democracy and self determination are really not everyone's cup of tea. As examples I would point out the utter chaos of Iraq, where having representative government staring them in the face, the Sunni and Shiite Muslim population have decided to use the liberation from a ruthless dictator as an opportunity to slaughter each other wholesale and blow up each others mosques. As Americans we take such autonomy as a given, something as natural as eating and breathing. It is the fabric of our culture. Contrary to what so many moonbats on the lunatic left would have us believe, this bloodlust in the name of religionIS uniquely Muslim. Have their been murderers who have been Catholic, Protestant or Jewish? Of course there have. John Wayne Gacy was party clown, no one has suggested sociopathology is side effect of white grease paint, oversize shoes and red bulb noses.... But if over a 5 year span we suddenly heard about HUNDREDS of clowns showing up at birthday parties with stuffed in their size 44EEE clown shoes and annihialted the partygoers, would it be hating to point out that ummmm I think these clowns are getting out of hand. If in the midst off all this if Bozo went on TV and said "well clowns are ambassadors of laughter and fun, but some clowns are upset that they feel disrespected. I don't condone massacring children and mothers but, you know things happen.....". Would that make everyone feel good about signing up "Chuckles" the clown for your next childs birthday?
Why then is so hard for so many people to acknowledge what is right in front of their face day after day, week after week? These Muslim groups have PUBLICLY and REPEATEDLY in no uncertain language their hatred for all things not Muslim. They have many times proclaimed a state of war between themselves and "infidels" worldwide. Yet the left wrings their hands and offers platitudes and compassion for theose that would slit their throats if given half a chance.
One needs look no further than last weeks news. It passed without muc notice but June 10 was the 40th anniversary of the end of the Six Day War, between Israel and Egypt. Much criticism is thrown at Israel over the West Bank and Gaza. Strangely those critics gloss over the fact that those areas were taken over as a result of wars started AGAINST Israel and thusly are legitimate "spoils of war". Far worse is the complete ignored fact that, only 9 days after that war ended Israel made it's first offer to return 90% of the land it had taken control of back.
Historically speaking ( I mean ALL history as far back as is recorded) it is incredibly rare if not unheard of for a nation to relinquish land that was literally paid for with Israeli blood in a DEFENSIVE war. The Arabs response to this unprecedented land for peace offer?
1) No to recognition of Israel at all
2) No Negotiations with Israel
3) No peace with Israel
President Nasser of Egypt went a step further declaring "a state of war had existed since 1948" and would continue to exist until "the existence of Israel was ended". His intenetion when he started that war was the "total destruction of Israel". Cairo radio reported that Israel was going to be "liquidated"
Meanwhile in Syria another peaceloving muslim Haffiz al-Assad, (the current dictator's father. {I'm just wondering when he was growing up did he and his dad talk? Did he tell his dad "When I grow up, I want to be a ruthless, murdering Jew hating dictator just like you dad ".}) vowed "a battle of annihialtion". Then president of Iraq said the opportunity must be seized now to "wipe Israel off the map". The newly formed PLO when asked through their leader at the time, Ahmed Shukairy what would happen to Israelis after the war responded with "I would hope none of them will survive."
In response to all this love and goodwill Israel struck fast hard and deep. Intense fighting ensued but it took only six days for Israel to drive the invaders back to what most thought were much more defensible borders. Nevertheless a week later they were ready to give back the vast majority of it in exchange for a peace accord. Israeli PM Levi Eshkol said "We speak not as conquerors, but as partners"
Eventually years later Israel did get that peace with Egypt at least in exchange for huge Sinai peninsula. A peace agreement that ultimately resulted in the assination of Anwar Sadat, the Egyptian president who dared to speak to the Jews as if they were human, by a "muslim extremist".
Two summers ago they withdrew from the Gaza allowing the Palestinians the autonomy they had been screaming for and the opportunity to show the world that they were truly a peaceful civilized culture who finally had a place of their own. They had new homes, schools, factories and farms, all courtesy of the now evacuated Jewish settlers. If they had done that Israel had all but promised to turn over the West Bank as well. Instead the Palestinians now physically seperated from Israel by a wall/fence with controlled checkpoints, (you know, the kind the politicians say won't work on our border and keep promising to build and then give us the metaphorical finger?? ) have decided if they can't kill Jews they'll settle for killing each other.
Yet there are still many who insist on pointing the finger of blame at Israel. Israel's position has always been we'll give up land you stop trying to annihilate us and the response has consistently been either:
A) Screw
or
B) Take the land and start killing Jews again within a month.
This latest situation within Gaza is about as plain of an example of the mentality that pervades the Muslims in that part of the world. Killing is their culture and concessions and negotiations/ compromise is nothing less than a welcome mat for the wolves at the entrance to henhouse.
