Today, we mourn the loss of a great friend.

 

William M, has decided to leave us...

 

and well... I just won't stand for that... William is a great friend, and a wonderful person. Hes the reason alot of us have stayed around gather, and we love him dearly.  Im tryin to see if anyone else agrees with me. Post here if you don't want him to go...

 

William... I have nothing but love for you, please stay...

William.... I hope you won't leave us! I understand that you're unhappy with Gather .... but hey! It's not your friends (and your daughter!!) that you're upset with, right?

I have a feeling that Gather did NOT send the e-mail or it would have said, "we have removed"... I have seen enough posts where people say that their stuff just "disappeared".

I wish he wouldn't leave!!

William - I did read your post on Good Morning Gather a few minutes ago. I am shocked. I am not shocked about the e-mail that you received...I am shocked that you are contemplating leaving Gather. I truly hope that you will have a chnage of heart about it.

Have you tried responding to the e-mail that you received? Are you positive that the e-mail is legitimate? Isn't there something that can be done? I have seen a lot of jokes posted here on Gather that state they are received from e-mails...is there anyone else that has done this that has received the same e-mail request that William has?

It would be a shame to lose you here on Gather, William...you are a wonderful person and a play a very positive role here in this community!

It seems to me that if Gather was sending out emails that someone had to remove everything that was clipped and pasted from an email...there would be a lot of people around here getting them, not just William. Look how many people post jokes, poems and pictures and say they received it in an email. Truthfully, this doesn't make sense that only William would get such a request.

William has always been very nice to me on Gather, I think he should stay and report the email to Tom Gerace.

I just can't stand by and let this happen to our dear friend, William. I for one am going to write to Gather to try to get to the bottom of this. It seems to me that William has abided by the rules in his jokes posting. I have never seen one that did not say that it had been received in his email. He never claims tlo be the originator. I think there are some of the "serous " witers who are very jealous of WIlliam's popularity here. They need to get a clue. Without the many people that are here because of William, their articles have more readers. With this site there can and should be room for all of the many writers. Think how many more view the advertising just because of the time spent on WIlliams articles. Please everyone, join me in writing to Tom Gerace, as head man at Gather to protest this. I don't know about the rest of you but I want an announcement from Tom to all of Gather about the rules of posting jokes from email. They are not copyrighted material.

william - Don't leave us! I'll miss you way too much. You are one of my favorite friends here on Gather and you cheer me up every morning and give me a giggle not just with the jokes you post, but with the friendly comments you leave on not just the good morning articles, but on articles that others post. I will miss you terribly and Gather won't be the same without you. I am guily of posting e-mail jokes also but like you, I also make sure to state that I did not write the jokes and I certainly don't take credit for them. I just like sharing them with my fellow Gatherers. We should all hold a revolt and start posting all of our e-mail forwards, stating CLEARLY that they are not our original work, but the work of someone else. William, don't leave because of this. You will bemissed way too much and there will be no one to give me a smile in the morning :-(

This article and any others like it will be welcome and featured in each and every group it has been posted too.

As for where e mails like those come from they would come from MaryanneF and she would also send a e mail to his personal e mail - if anyone can contact William they need to tell him to check these two things and also send an email to Gather with the email he was sent and ask them for verification if it came from them.
I really wonder if it was really from gather.
William was a very nice gentleman who didn't deserve to be treated like that.
I hope he changes his mind and comes back.

Has William contacted Gather to see if they did send it?

I don't want to see William go, he was on of my first connections on here. I love reading the emails he gets.

I hope someone will be able to contact him and find out more of what is going on.

Again, Where is the original letter posted? Where is William? If anyone has contact with him he needs to come and spearhead this movement. If he is truly done, then there is no movement. I am all for William staying and posting his email jokes, but Where is William?

Well, I'm not sure if I know William well enough to say that I will miss him or that I love him. I frankly can't keep track of all the online friends I have,

BUT I know one thing....

What has happened to him is WRONG! I'm most sure that Gather is NOT ran by one person, and if it is, he/she has many people working for him/her. That means that Gather wouldn't use a personal e-mail address. This sight has to have an official webmaster.

That webmaster would be RESPONSIBLE for deleting ANY and ALL postings that are inappropriate by any means. It states so in their claims as a company/site.

What is going on is 100% bogus and William shouldn't have to pay for it.
