I'm humbled to be your host for the Sunday portion of Writing Essentials. This made my panic all the more visceral as I ran around Brainerd, Minnesota today looking for wi-fi locations, and anyone at those locations who would be able to explain to me why my laptop could not connect to anything.
Finally, around 1 p.m., I found an outlet for a major electronics corporation and walked up to their helpdesk. It took them a while to figure out all that needed to be done was the pushing of a button on the front. In the meantime, I used one of their demo computers to okay all but one of the submissions made so far.
The only thing I did not accept into the group today was the posting of a quotation, without commentary. I had a hard time seeing any writing in that, so sorry, I could not include it.
My attitudes about accepting writing in the group on Sundays are pretty simple. The submissions must be fiction or nonfiction writing or an attempt at writing. Any of those will get your piece accepted to the group on my watch.
I will also accept pictures that are not offensive. While pictures are not writing, anyone coming to this group to find writing will head directly for the articles, so basically the photos are irrelevant. They're nice - perhaps - and they won't get in the way, so I'm okay with them. This is not to say some consensus among the member editors may change that, but for now I see no reason to reject images.
There may be instances where something nasty is just typed out to inspire anger. I'll probably reject something like that, but I didn't see any today. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Chats and games are not writing.
I will tend to feature pieces about writing, or writers asking for help. This is not to say I won't see some actual writing I want to feature. I gravitate towards writing that "flows into my head with little effort from me." If you're looking for a clue on getting featured, that would be it.
With the rest of my weekend, while not bemoaning limitations on my ability to attend to my Gather responsibilities, I

saw some bored looking bunnies being offered for $5 each,

Saw a nest of phoebe chicks - remind me not to request reincarnation as a bird - and

at least one very pretty flower.
We'll see you back here next Sunday. Keep submitting. I'll keep up with things for a couple more hours here, until 10 ..m. Central.

Michael, I'm new to these mobile computers. I don't know what a weed is. They're all flowers to me (well, maybe not bindweed).
Joanne, thank you. I look forward to it.
Hey there, Kathryn!
