So I was watching the Today show this morning and they showed a clip of a guy on the show Britain's Got Talent. This completely unassuming, nervous looking guy name Paul Potts walks out of stage and says he's going to sing opera for the crowd. He opens his mouth and this stunning, passionate voice comes flying out of it. It was simply stunning and gave me goosebumps. He's a phone saleseman by day and loves opera and has been taking lessons for a few years. He's made it through to the finals which are going on right now.

The semi-finals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEFrQxSzTTQ&NR=1
I'm not one for usually passing on this kind of stuff, but it was just simply amazing to see.

Here's the video of the final: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_5W4t_CBzg
He's so humble and surprised by the whole thing. What a nice thing to see.

Oh wow so Britain moves much quicker with these shows. 1 hour to vote and then everyone comes back and they announce the winnter. Paul won!

My eyes are still wet after two nose blowings.
I can't tell you how impressed I am.
Thank you, Thank you for this introduction!
I can't believe I'd cry over opera. How unfair -- I should have read the comments first so I'd have had a tissue handy.
I'm also completely unsurprised: he's a Welshman -- of *course* he's going to be a fantastic singer!
He opens his mouth and I hear the highest aspirations of our humanity. I hear the ordinary made extraordinary by following our dreams.
Peter, she certainly does sound naughty... :)
Thank you Tonia for pointing me this way!
Tears were streaming down my face....he is absolutely wonderful and I know we will be hearing more about him!
After being appropriately impessed by Paul's performance, other things impressed me, and stay with me, making me look at the video again and again.
Take a good look at the reaction of the judges. In a matter of seconds, they go from bored and skeptical to blown away.
And then the audience just explodes with surprise and enthusiasm.
The judges and the audience play off of each other, experiencing this performance.
Adding the final touch of visual drama to this audio experience, at the end the camera makes a high, wide arch across the stage "in tune" with the final notes of the piece. I'm guessing the camera crew "discovered" Paul's potential during an earlier performance and had everything ready for what they knew would come.
All in all, very exciting.
